Once a summary page appears, hover your mouse over the orange Action button for a list of possible approval step options.Position InformationPosition TitleVice President for Research, Sponsored Programs & InnovationStatusJob SummaryAs a key member of the Provost Leadership Team, the VPRSPI is charged with shaping and executing an innovative, ambitious, and forward-looking research agenda in line with our R2 mission that advances Tuskegee University's domestic and global reputation in research excellence. The successful candidate will drive innovation and foster collaboration across disciplines, expand external partnerships, and support faculty and students across the research continuum.Reporting to Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, the VPRI provides strategic and operational oversight for Tuskegee University's research, sponsored programs, an innovation enterprise.Essential Job DutiesEnsuring compliance with state and federal regulations for all sponsored programs.Managing the office that approves all applications, and facilitating research that aligns with the university's mission and contributes to its academic and service goals.Assisting Tuskegee University's faculty and staff in their efforts to secure and fulfill extramurally sponsored programs, including reviewing grant proposals, and negotiating contracts for federal, industry, and business and nonprofit sponsors.Interfacing with relevant Tuskegee University administrative units, including Business and Financial Affairs for post award and audit compliance, University Contracts to ensure proper treatment and classification of activities, and General Counsel.Addressing a wide array of legal issues, including integrity and compliance.Developing and administering budgets for assigned areas of responsibility.Initiating and maintaining external relationships with federal government funding agencies, industry sponsors, industry, non-profit agencies, and other universities.Supporting and participating in training seminars for faculty, research administrators, and staff to ensure that all university personnel are aware of international, federal, state, and local regulations as well as institutional policies.Responding to faculty inquiries and complaints in a timely fashion.Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)PhD or commensurate qualifications in Health Related Science.Leadership experience in an academic setting.Proven experience in developing and leading a collaborative team and in collaborating and leading teams across and throughout large and diverse organizations.Demonstrate a track record of research funding and leadership of faculty focus research in alignment with the University's strategic plan.Physical DemandsSkills and AttributesStrong written communication, oral communication and presentation skills.Be a strong communicator and negotiator who displays both transparency and political savvy.Must be a strategic, visionary, and collaborative leader with prior administrative and leadership experience.Ability to:Read and interpret sponsors requirements in terms of proposal needs.Communicate both verbally and in writing with faculty, staff and various funding agencies.Physical Requirements:Ability to operate standard office equipment, use of Microsoft Word, excel, PowerPoint, etc. Ability to prepare and analyze data.Posting Detail InformationPosting NumberWill this position required travel?N/AWill this position required night, weekend, and after hour work?N/AWill this positon be supported using grants or contract funding?N/ANumber of Vacancies1Desired Start DatePosition End Date (if temporary)Open Date02/17/2026Close Date05/17/2026Open Until FilledNoSpecial Instructions SummaryEach applicant, including all current employees, must complete and submit the following documents:Tuskegee University employment applicationCover LetterResume/CVRecommendation lettersCopies of unofficial transcripts.Please note that official transcripts(s) will be required upon hireQuick Link for Internal Postings
