Doctor of Medicine | Emergency Medicine Location: Pennington Gap, VA Employer: Adelphi Locums Pay: Competitive weekly pay (inquire for details) Shift Information: 3 days x 12 hours Start Date: ASAP About the Position JOB OVERVIEW • Job Title: Emergency Medicine • Job Type: Locum Tenens • Location: Pennington Gap, VA • Service Setting: Emergency Room / Hospital • Coverage Type: Clinical Only • Coverage Period: 08/01/2026 – Ongoing • Clinical Shift Schedule: 12-hour shifts with 10-hour mid-level coverage PATIENT INFORMATION • Patient Demographics: Pediatrics, Adults, Geriatrics • Patient Volume/Census: Approximately 12,000 annual ED visits • Admissions: Yes • Case Mix: Emergency Medicine cases FACILITY INFORMATION • EMR System: Epic • Office Equipment Available: Standard Emergency Department equipment • Specialty Backup Available: TBD • Support Staff Available: Mid-level coverage, NPs, and PAs • Reason for Coverage: Coverage PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE • Hospital Privileges Required: Yes COMPENSATION & BENEFITS • Rate: TBD • Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered REQUIRED PROCEDURES • Emergency stabilization and treatment • Airway management • Supervising NP and PA providers JOB REQUIREMENTS • Licenses: Active unrestricted VA Medical License • Board: Board Certified in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine • DEA: Active DEA with VA address and schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 • Certifications: ACLS, ATLS, and PALS required if not BC in EM or EM-trained; NRP required for non-ABEM providers • Experience: EM residency graduates within the past 12 months may be considered; 3-month proctorship required for new graduates • Other Qualifications: ECFMG required for foreign medical graduates; ability to supervise NP and PA providers DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide emergency medical evaluation and treatment to patients of all ages • Perform emergency procedures and stabilization as needed • Supervise and collaborate with NP and PA providers • Document patient encounters accurately within Epic EMR • Maintain compliance with facility credentialing and immunization requirements
