He or she ensures that the restaurant operates smoothly and in a high state of cleanliness and provides strong leadership and supervision to the staff. In addition, the Assistant Manager ensures the staff is properly trained to provide exceptional service to customers and ensures that the kitchen and dining areas are kept clean and sanitary at all times. The Assistant Manager should have experience in restaurant and foodservice and the business skills to help manage the administrative, operational and financial aspects of the establishment.ResponsibilitiesOversees production of food according to sanitation and quality standardsManages supplies and ensures orderly work areasEnsures that work areas are clean and that equipment, tools, and supplies are properly storedEnsures compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and all company policiesProvides timely and accurate reports as requiredAddresses customer concerns and issuesEnsures stated goals are metSets the standard of consistent excellence, improving each day, and influences other employees with a positive attitudePerforms other duties as assignedQualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required; some post high school education or training preferredOne year of relevant experience preferredExperience in supervising and managing staffStrong computer and internet skills, including Microsoft Office suiteExcellent communication skills, verbal and writtenKnowledge of budgeting, forecasting, staffing, and schedulingStrong financial acumen and P&L accountability experience
