This role is vital in supporting our certified teachers to provide high-quality instruction, monitor student progress, and enhance the overall educational experience for students with special needs.If you are passionate about making a difference and thrive in a collaborative environment, we want to hear from you!Position DetailsHours: 6.5 hours per day (plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch)Contract Length: 183 days per year170 student instructional days4 holidays7 planning days2 extended days Contract Adjustments: Contracted days will be prorated based on the start dateEmployment Status: Full-time with benefitsEmployment Type: 10-month employee on the classified salary schedule.Qualifications & RequirementsEducation: Must meet one of the following:48 college semester hoursAn Associate's Degree ORHigh school diploma plus a passing score on the Paraeducator Assessment Exam.Documentation: Candidates must provide proof of educational requirements to HR upon recommendation for hire. Compensation & Experience CreditSalary for the 2026-2027 school year will be based on Board approved salary schedule.2025-2026 Pay ScaleStarting Pay (Step 0): $15.98/hourExperienced Pay (Step 10): $19.67/hour We value experience! Previous experience working with students?Experience Credit: New employees may bring in up to 10 years of comparable, full-time, verified experience.Note: It is the employee's responsibility to submit the BCPS Verification of Experience form to previous employers. Payroll Note: While this is an hourly position, the salary is distributed via a year-long contract over 10 months. You will receive 4 paychecks at the end of June. Salary Formula: Hours per day × Hourly rate = Daily rate Daily rate × Contracted days = Annual salary.
