Payroll Coordinator

DescriptionThe Payroll Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll operations for all employees across the organization. Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor and partnering closely with teams across Accounting, Finance, HR, Legal, and Benefits, this position is responsible for end-to-end bi-weekly payroll processing, general ledger reconciliations, tax compliance, and reporting for senior management. This is a fully in-office role at our Des Moines, Iowa location.RequirementsEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProcess bi-weekly payroll accurately and on schedule for all company entities Post payroll data to the general ledger and perform reconciliations to ensure G/L accuracy Administer garnishments, child support orders, and other payroll-related disbursements Calculate, file, and remit payroll taxes in accordance with federal and state schedules Reconcile quarterly and annual payroll reports as required by the IRS and applicable federal/state agencies Remit 401(k) contribution payments and support the annual 401(k) audit process Prepare and distribute payroll reports on a scheduled basis Serve as a resource for employees by responding to payroll-related inquiries in a timely and professional mannerPerform routine audits within the HRIS to ensure data integrity and compliance Assist in troubleshooting timecard discrepancies and workflow issues, coordinating with relevant teams to resolve in a timely mannerPerform other duties as assignedRequired Skills And AbilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Hours may vary depending on departmental staffing needs.The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodationAssociate or bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field, plus 3–5 years of payroll experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience Experience processing multi-entity or multi-state payrollHands-on experience with payroll systems such as UKG, Paylocity, or similar platforms Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data validation, etc.) and the broader Microsoft Office Suite Solid understanding of payroll tax regulations at the federal and state levels Strong analytical and mathematical aptitude Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization and collaborate with cross-functional teams including HR, Legal, Finance, and Benefits Proven ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretionThe ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodationPhysical RequirementsProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerMust be able to lift up to 20 pounds at timesRequires fine motor hand and arm movement, manual dexterity and coordinationMust be able to access and navigate each department in the facilityWork EnvironmentThis position requires work in an office environment.
