Immediate opening for Oral Surgery Assistant
Requirements
High School Diploma
RDA License
CPR certification
Dental assistant experience required but prior experience with an oral surgery office a plus
Must be friendly with great chairside manners
Must be a team player
Needs to be responsible, dependable, hardworking
Must be willing to learn, ask for help, or ask if the teams need help
Willingness to be flexible
Must be motivated to excel at patient care
Job Duties
Assisting surgeon with consultations and surgeries
Appropriate setup and take down of surgical rooms
Provide diagnostic information through x-rays, dental impressions and casts
Assist surgeon with general anesthesia and IV sedation procedures
Maintain patient's vital statistics and intravenous fluids during surgery
Provide patients with pre-operative, post operative instructions, and care tips
Adhere to infection control guidelines when preparing for, during, and upon completion of each dental treatment; disinfect and clean surgical and consult rooms and contaminated trays; disinfect and sterilize instruments, equipment, and surgical handpieces; handle and dispose of sharps and hazardous materials according to established University, State, and federal OSHA standards.
Strictly adhere to HIPAA standards in the protection of patient personal information
Physical Demands
Ability to bend, stoop, reach ,and stand for long periods of time
Sufficient near vision acuity to identify and distinguish between dental instruments and to pass/exchange instruments to the doctor
Adequate hearing and verbal abilities to communicate effectively in person
Ability to lift and carry objects up to 25 pounds
