Assistant Special Education Director - Operations
Under the direction of the Directors of Special Education, the Assistant Director of Special Education of Operations is responsible for oversight of the day-to-day operational functions of the Special Education programs. The Assistant Director of Special Education of Operations ensures compliance with state and federal guidelines pertaining to special education by assisting with the coordination and monitoring and submission of all SPP Indicators, accurate data collection and reporting of PEIMS and other state-required data, and maintaining the Special Education Management System (SEMS) and Special Education website.Qualifications Master’s degree in education; special education preferredValid Texas Teaching Certificate in Special EducationEducational Diagnostician certification preferredRequired Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs) Experience in conducting professional developmentStrong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skillsAbility to work well with diverse populationsAbility to use technology in an effective manner to facilitate communication and work completionTime management and the prioritization of activitiesAbility to establish positive working relationships with othersAbility to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing Ability to process large data sets and perform analysisResponsibilities And Duties Ensures accurate data collection and reporting of PEIMS and other state-required data, and maintains the Special Education Management System (SEMS) Ensures compliance with state and federal guidelines pertaining to special education by assisting with the coordination and monitoringObtain and use evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to gauge special education program effectivenessOversee an effective special education referral process and ensure that student assessments and recommendations regarding placement and program management for individual students are completed promptly.Supervise Evaluation staffTake an active role in the coordination of contracts, services, and evaluations for special education students receiving services outside of the district.Performs other comparable duties of a like or similar nature
