Are you a seasoned professional in facilities or building management?The Department of General Services (DGS) is seeking a dynamic Chief Engineer I to join our Facilities Management Division (FMD) in Los Angeles, CA.Under general direction of the Chief Engineer II, the Chief Engineer I in the Facilities Management Division (FMD) Caltrans leads and provides a variety of skilled work in the operation, maintenance, repair of heating, engineering operations, special projects, repairs of the heating and electrical plant, other mechanical and power equipment within the State Building and occupied buildings in accordance with FMD guidelines and manuals.As the Office Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for:Managing and overseeing the day-day operations of the assigned building(s) and staffPlans, assigns, and supervise work for the operation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, building automation etc.Providing supervision and professional development support of staff and hiring and maintaining adequate staffMaintaining excellent customer service while balancing competing prioritiesPrepares requisitions including quotes and proposals for supplies, products, toolsMaintains, services, repairs and dispose of state equipment that contains refrigerantReview trade publications, establishes professional networking.To be successful in the role, you must meet the qualifications below:Four years of experience within the last fifteen years in the maintenance and operation of a heating, ventilating, and air- conditioning system and related equipment in a large commercial, industrial, or governmental building or institution including one year of experience in supervising such a system.This is a fantastic opportunity for a strategic leader with a solid background in facilities management to make a lasting impact in public service.
