Come be a part of the Migizi team.Part of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan.Lifeguard Training Supervisor – Soaring Eagle Waterpark & HotelPosition SummaryThe Lifeguard Training Supervisor is responsible for leading daily operations, direct supervision of head lifeguards and lifeguards on stand in addition to training all new lifeguard candidates and current lifeguard staff in accordance with all Red Cross Aquatics training standard at the Soaring Eagle Waterpark. Although the Soaring Eagle Water Park & Hotel is an enterprise of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan, it operates under the Migizi Economic Development Company Policies and Procedures.Essential Job Duties And ResponsibilitiesProvides outstanding guest and team member service while performing assigned duties, interpreting and conveying information throughout the waterpark property.Monitors, coaches and disciplines, up to termination, all Head Lifeguards and Lifeguards during daily operations.Ensure adequate Lifeguard coverage for each attraction in the waterpark.Ensures the safety of all guests and team members within the waterpark.Responds to emergencies as a secondary responder backing up Lifeguards or as a supervisory responder able to communicate with security, EMS, and Tribal Fire as needed.Responsible for responding to emergencies out sided of the water park as needed by other departments including but not; limited to hotel rooms, front desk areas, hotel pool, restaurant, hallways and pathways, and parking lot.Must be able to deal with change and remain flexible enough to adapt and sensibly respond to situations at hand.Must be able to effectively listen to and resolve all guests that cannot be handled by Head Lifeguards and Lifeguards.Must have the ability to read, teach, and interpret documents such as schedules, availability sheets, inventory logs, safety rules, operating instruction, and procedure manuals.Ensure that all water rides are operating properly and that any unsafe conditions are reported to the waterpark Facilities staff and Aquatics Manager or General Manager.Comply with Red Cross Aquatic programs and Soaring Eagle Waterpark standards.Run Red Cross prerequisite testing.Setup lesson plans in accordance with Red Cross Aquatics training program.Teach new Lifeguard courses, new Swim Instructor courses and Lifeguard recertification courses.Lead pre-shift, weekly, and monthly meetings.Lead in-service.Coordinate swim lessons.Completes shift reports on paper, as well as, via e-mail and sends to Training Supervisor, Aquatics Manager, Associate General Manager and General Manager for each shift.Writes and reviews SOP in the waterpark.Responsible for approving time cards for Head Lifeguards and Lifeguards.Completing inventory of waterpark equipment and reporting this to Aquatic Manager as assigned.Lifeguard file management.Assisting in the interview process of new hire candidates.Evaluates Lifeguards and annually.Works with Aquatic Manager to create Lifeguard incentive programs.Maintains a clean and safe waterpark all seating areas, walkways, storage areas, and offices.Responsible for maintaining radio communication with Head Lifeguard, as well as, other departments.Executes Zone validations every six (6) months.Setup and run all VAT testing for Lifeguards.Assist guests with tubes, lifejackets, ADA chair, lockers, and other guest needs.Measures guest for red wristbands as needed.Maintains a high degree of confidentiality in performing all aspects of assigned responsibilities.Performs well-being checks on water safety staff.Ensures medical and rescue equipment is in its proper location and backboards are functioning properly.Supervises water ride testing.Supervises flow rider lessons either before or after park is closed.Communication with a Red Cross representative during yearly reviews/audits if Aquatics Manager is unavailable.Ability to handle sensitive and/or stressful situations or information with tact, discretion and significant awareness of confidentiality.Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.Performs other duties as assigned.Success MeasurementThe Lifeguard Supervisor shall be measured on his/her ability to:Provide consistently high levels of guest service.Speak loudly, clearly, and communicate all safety instruction to all guests.Effectively work as a team.Leads by example during shifts.Effectively adhering to Red Cross Training class standards and protocols.Effective coaching and discipline of Head Lifeguards and Lifeguards.Ensure that all safety rules are being followed at all times by guests and employees.Ensure that all safety rules are being enforced by Lifeguards and Head Lifeguards.Ensure the safe operations of all functions of the waterpark and the attractions inside.Ensure they are upholding the ten qualities of leadership.Essential Physical RequirementsMust be able to stand or sit for long periods of time in excess of 10 hours.Must be able to walk up and down stairs.Must be able to walk or stand for at least 100% of assigned shift.Must be able to use hand signals and blow a whistle.Must be able to use communication technology.Must be able to lift and maneuver at least fifty (50) pounds.Bending, kneeling, stooping, pushing and pulling required throughout shift.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Must be able to verbally communicate.Work Environment/Safety HazardsMust be able to work in an indoor environment with wet conditions and extreme heat and humidity. May experience exposure to water chemicals and blood-borne spills caused by illnesses or injuries.RequiredMinimum Qualifications:18 years of age.Ability to pass Red Cross Swim Test: swim 300 yards, timed brick retrieval from the bottom of water 8ft deep, and tread water for 2 minutes without using hands.Associate’s degree or equivalent years of experience.One (1) to three (3) years lifeguard experience.Complete and maintain Lifeguard Instructor Certification provided by Red Cross at Soaring Eagle Waterpark or have attended instructor training at other facility. Will be compensated as a regular Lifeguard Supervisor until Lifeguard Instructor Certification is received. Certification must be obtained within six (6) months of employment.Obtain and maintain lifeguarding, CPR/AED, Administering Oxygen, Blood borne pathogen, and Lifeguard management certification through Red Cross.Maintain current license and pass required training to remain in position.Pre-employment background check.PreferredNative American.
