Utilities Superintendent, Underground Water & WastewaterPosition OverviewWe are hiring for an experienced Utilities Superintendent to oversee underground water and wastewater construction projects ranging from small municipal improvements to large-scale infrastructure developments. This individual will lead field operations, manage crews and subcontractors, ensure safety and quality standards are met, and keep projects on schedule and within budget.This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in the field and understands underground utility construction from the ground up.ResponsibilitiesOversee daily field operations for underground water and wastewater utility projectsSupervise crews, subcontractors, and equipment on active job sitesCoordinate installation of water lines, sewer lines, storm drain systems, lift stations, manholes, and related underground infrastructureEnsure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to plans and specificationsMaintain project schedules and communicate progress with project managers and leadershipConduct site inspections and ensure quality workmanship throughout all phases of constructionCoordinate materials, equipment, inspections, and manpower needsRead and interpret blueprints, utility maps, and civil construction drawingsIdentify and resolve field issues proactively to avoid project delaysEnforce OSHA standards and company safety procedures at all timesMaintain daily reports, production tracking, and documentationParticipate in project meetings with clients, inspectors, engineers, and internal teamsQualifications5+ years of experience supervising underground utility construction projectsStrong knowledge of water, wastewater, and storm utility installationExperience leading crews on both small and large-scale civil projectsAbility to read and interpret civil plans and utility drawingsKnowledge of excavation, trench safety, pipe installation, grading, and backfill proceduresStrong leadership and communication skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environmentFamiliarity with OSHA safety regulations and underground utility standardsValid driver’s license and reliable transportationPreferred QualificationsExperience with municipal or public infrastructure projectsKnowledge of DOT and local utility regulationsCPR/First Aid or OSHA certificationsExperience working with GPS, grade control, or utility locating equipment
