CNC Programmer
Core Duties
Develop, refine, and enhance CNC programs specifically for multi-axis turning equipment.
Utilize CAM software to generate programs for new projects and modify existing ones as requirements evolve.
Boost overall manufacturing output by designing machining workflows that minimize cycle durations.
Determine the best tooling, inserts, and workholding configurations to achieve peak operational efficiency.
Conduct initial machine testing and resolve any technical challenges related to programming or production.
Analyze technical drawings, CAD files, GD&T requirements, and specific client documentation.
Collaborate with quality, engineering, and production departments to guarantee that all components adhere to strict quality benchmarks.
Facilitate first-piece inspections and drive process modifications to decrease waste and operational delays.
Keep detailed records of all program documentation and setup instructions.
Contribute to ongoing manufacturing process enhancements and continuous improvement projects.
Required Qualifications
At least five years of professional background in CNC programming with a specialization in turning.
Proficiency in using CAM platforms like Mastercam, Esprit, GibbsCAM, NX, or equivalent systems for lathe programming.
Comprehensive understanding of G-Code, machining theory, and the selection of feeds, speeds, and tooling.
Practical experience operating multi-axis lathes, including Y-axis and live tooling capabilities.
Demonstrated ability to interpret complex blueprints and GD&T standards.
Proven track record of producing high-precision parts within tight-tolerance manufacturing settings.
Effective communication skills paired with a strong aptitude for troubleshooting and problem resolution.
Desired Background
Expertise in programming turning centers that feature multi-axis and live tooling functionality.
Prior experience working with Swiss-style lathes.
Background in high-precision sectors such as aerospace, medical device manufacturing, or defense.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing methodologies and active participation in process improvement efforts.
