Client: Our client is a U.S. division of an international financial corporation. Their primary business areas include corporate financial services, maintenance leasing, real estate, investment and operations, retail, and international business. Position overview: The Microsoft SQL Server DBA will play a key role in ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our client's mission‑critical data platforms. This role involves managing complex SQL Server environments, supporting high‑availability and disaster‑recovery strategies, and optimising large‑scale financial datasets used across reporting, analytics, and core business applications. The DBA will collaborate closely with engineering, BI, and application teams to design scalable data solutions, maintain robust operational processes, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements in a highly controlled environment. The estimated salary range for this position is 130,000 to 170,000 USD per year. Technology stack: MS SQL Server Responsibilities: Administer, configure, patch, and upgrade Microsoft SQL Server across development, test, and production environments. Operate and maintain high‑availability and disaster‑recovery architectures (Always On, Failover Clustering, Replication, Log Shipping). Monitor and tune database performance, including query plans, indexing strategies, I/O, waits, and resource utilization. Design and maintain backup, restore, and recovery strategies aligned with RPO/RTO requirements and audit standards. Implement and enforce database security, encryption, auditing, and role‑based access control. Support SOX compliance, internal audits, and regulatory requirements through logging, traceability, and access reviews. Manage capacity planning, storage growth, and archival strategies for large financial and reporting datasets. Support CI/CD pipelines and release management for database changes and schema deployments. Develop, review, and optimise T‑SQL stored procedures, views, functions, and queries. Collaborate with data engineering, BI, and application teams to implement reliable and scalable data models (dimensional, star schema, relational). Support data warehouses, ETL staging areas, and reporting databases. Troubleshoot and resolve production data issues across pipelines, reporting, and applications. 7+ years administering Microsoft SQL Server in enterprise production environments. Advanced expertise in T‑SQL, stored procedures, indexing, and query optimisation. Strong knowledge of SQL Server HA/DR and backup/restore architectures. Deep understanding of relational and dimensional modeling (star, snowflake). Experience with data warehouses, reporting platforms, and ETL pipelines (SSIS, Azure Data Factory, etc.). Proven ability to manage security, encryption, auditing, and compliance controls in regulated environments. Experience working with large‑scale financial or enterprise datasets. Familiarity with Power BI, SSRS, or similar reporting platforms. Strong troubleshooting skills across performance and operational issues. Nice to have: Experience with cloud‑based SQL platforms (Azure SQL, Managed Instance, SQL Server on Azure).
