Our team works at the intersection of perception, planning, systems engineering, and safety, ensuring that autonomous behavior is thoroughly tested across a wide range of real‐world and edge‐case scenarios before deployment.What You'll Do As a Senior Simulation Test Engineer, you will contribute to the development and execution of scenario‐based validation strategies, leveraging simulation to evaluate system performance, identify gaps, and improve overall robustness. You'll collaborate closely with cross‐functional teams across autonomy, systems, and safety to ensure that simulation insights translate into meaningful improvements in the real‐world behavior of our vehicles.Contribute to the planning and execution of simulation‐based test campaigns for autonomous vehicle V&V effortsCollaborate with Product, Systems, and Safety teams to support simulation‐driven validation strategiesDevelop, maintain, and expand Torc's Scenario Library, including Abstract, Logical, and Concrete scenarios to improve ODD coverageIdentify testing gaps and propose improvements to simulation tools, environments, and test frameworksPartner with internal tools teams and external vendors to enhance simulation and virtual testing capabilitiesPerform analysis and triage of simulation results, including development of dashboards and reports to communicate findings to stakeholdersWhat You'll Need to SucceedBachelor's degree with 6+ years of experience, or Master's degree with 3+ years of experience in Computer Science, Robotics, Systems Engineering, or related fieldExperience with simulation and virtual testing of perception and/or autonomous driving systemsExperience developing scenarios aligned with OpenSCENARIO standards, including Abstract and/or Logical scenariosExperience developing test cases and test procedures for complex systemsProficiency in Python scripting and YAML, including data analysis and automation workflowsStrong experience with system‐level debugging, fault isolation, and analysisProficiency working in a Linux environmentWorking knowledge of probability and linear algebraAbility to communicate test results clearly and collaborate effectively across teamsFamiliarity with state‐of‐the‐art approaches to autonomous vehicle validationBonus PointsExperience in automotive or safety‐critical system validationExperience developing or validating sensor models, traffic models, or vehicle dynamics modelsExperience with ROS (Robot Operating System)Experience mentoring junior engineers or contributing to team best practicesWork Location For this position, we are open to hiring in Ann Arbor, MI (U.S.) office work locations in a hybrid capacity.
