The successful candidate will be responsible for tracking budgets, forecasting costs, analyzing variances, and ensuring financial accountability throughout the project lifecycle. Additional responsibilities include procurement management (issuing RFPs, bid leveling, descoping bidders, negotiating contract terms) and change order management. This role is critical to maintaining project profitability, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and supporting strategic decision-making.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Cost ManagementDevelop, maintain, and monitor detailed project budgets and cost reportsTrack actuals vs. budget and forecast future expendituresIdentify and analyze cost variances; recommend corrective actionsChange Order & Risk AnalysisEvaluate and validate change orders for cost impact and entitlementCollaborate with construction managers to assess scope changesSupport risk assessments and contingency planningReporting & CommunicationPrepare weekly and monthly cost performance reports for internal and external stakeholdersPresent cost trends, forecasts, and project financial health to senior leadershipMaintain clear documentation of cost-related decisions and assumptionsProcurement & Vendor CoordinationPartner with procurement to ensure cost-effective sourcingManage the RFP and award process (issue RFPs, level/compare bids, descope, negotiate terms)Review vendor invoices and contracts for accuracy and budget complianceSystems & ToolsUse cost management software and tools (e.g., Procore, Excel) to maintain accurate recordsSupport integration of cost data with scheduling and project controls systemsQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or related field3+ years of experience in cost engineering and/or project estimating within constructionHighly organized; able to manage trackers and standardized processesStrong analytical skills and attention to detailProficiency with cost control software and Excel-based financial modelingExcellent communication and collaboration skills; able to advocate for the company’s interestsAbility to visit construction sites ~once per month to deepen field understandingSolid understanding of construction contracts and change order processesPreferredExperience with utility-scale infrastructure or energy projects.Other RequirementsValid driver’s license.Willingness to travel to project sites 1-2 times per month.We OfferAn opportunity to be part of the rapidly growing electric vehicle (EV) sectorProfessional development and opportunities for career advancementA collaborative and supportive team cultureHybrid work schedule, with 3 days per week in the office401(k) Retirement Savings Plan with a Company match of up to 4%Health/Dental/Vision InsuranceHealth Savings Account optionCompany-paid Life InsurancePaid Time OffCompany cell phoneEmployee Assistance ProgramEarned Wage Access – Pay on DemandEducation AssistanceCompany events, lunches, and outingsOther Voluntary BenefitsAnd an AMAZING team of people to work with!
