Title: CNC Mill OperatorReports To: Production ManagerStatus: Full Time/Hourly Non-Exempt (40 hours/week; additional hours as needed to support organization and individual goals)Job RequirementsHigh School Diploma or GEDMotor coordination, manual & finger dexterityIndustrial Truck LicenseOverhead Crane LicenseAbility to read and interpret documentsAbility to speak effectively before groups/employeesAbility to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimalsAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situationsAbility to interpret a variety of instructions (written, oral, diagram, etc)Knowledgeable of CNC and manual machines used to manufacture toolingOrganization skillsComputer skillsJob SummarySet up and operate multi-axis milling machine to mill surfaces of steel work pieces by performing the essential job functions.Essential Job FunctionsRead process sheets, blueprints and sketches of parts to determine machining to be done, dimensional specifications, set up and operating requirementsRetrieve CNC program from DNC computerInsert precision indicator in machine spindle, and depress switches to job spindle into contact with work piece, and synchronize the program and toolingRetract spindle and load and secure first preset tool and holder (indicates tooling)Start machine and observe cutting operation. Operate machine and perform a dry run to indicate if programming is correctAssemble and preset tooling for next operation during automated cycle to reduce machine down timeReplace milling tools with drilling and boring tools at specified change points to reduce or eliminate subsequent machining of work piece on another machineStudy job packet and organize materials for next run during automatic cycles to shorten change over timeSet up and operate another machine tool during CNC controlled machining cycles as necessaryCommunicate with individuals associated with the production of each jobPerform and document specified inspection criteriaIdentify and communicate any suspect and/or non-conforming product to the appropriate supervisorComplete any necessary non-conforming product paperworkDeliver non-conforming product to designated areaScan on and off of all jobs ran during shift for costing analysisAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures and work instructionsPerform necessary machine maintenance at specified intervalsAbility to write simple correspondenceAbility to speak effectively with othersAbility to calculate figuresAbility to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometryAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variablesAbility to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule formAbility to read and interpret blueprint specificationsAbility to use appropriate measuring devices and any equipment associated with job
