TRB + Associates is seeking experienced and motivated Senior Building Inspectors and Building Inspectors. Experience as a Building Inspector for a city or county jurisdiction is desirable. Senior Building Inspector: a minimum of five (5) years of experience in residential, commercial, and industrial structures. Locations: Los Angeles Area Essential job duties and responsibilities of the role include: Inspects industrial, commercial, and residential buildings during various stages of construction and remodeling to ensure compliance with applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations Inspects existing buildings for change of use, occupancy, or compliance with applicable codes and ordinances Confers with architects, contractors, builders, and the general public in the field and office; explains and interprets requirements and restrictions Issues notice to comply to address violations; maintains inspection history Reviews building construction plans over-the-counter for compliance with various codes and regulations Coordinates inspection activities with other City departments and divisions as required Performs related duties as assigned Job Requirements: Certification as an ICC Building Inspector. ICC Electrical Inspector, Mechanical Inspector, Plumbing Inspector, Combination Inspector, Plans Examiner, or CASp Certification is desirable. An in-depth understanding of the California Building Standards Codes and related standards is essential Pass a background check and have a valid California License Knowledge of: California building, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, housing, energy, and green building and related codes State and Federal laws and regulations applicable to construction Principles, materials, and methods used in building design and construction Legal procedures involved in building inspection Building construction techniques and methods Ability to: Read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings Interpret, apply, and explain construction-related codes, regulations, and policies Communicate building inspection requirements, policies, and decisions to the public in a courteous and effective manner Make accurate arithmetical computations Evaluate and recommend improvements to systems and procedures related to the building division; Write clear and comprehensive field notes Climb ladders or crawl under floors as necessary to confirm compliance Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract, Temporary Pay: $34.00 - $52.00 per hour Benefits: 401(k) 401(k) matching Dental insurance Employee assistance program Flexible spending account Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off Professional development assistance Referral program Retirement plan Tuition reimbursement Vision insurance Schedule: 8 hour shift Monday to Friday Experience: Building Inspection: 2 years (Required) Municipal: 2 years (Preferred) License/Certification: Driver's License (Required) ICC inspector license or certification (Required) Work Location: In person
