The Visitor Control Assistant supports facility security operations by assisting with the escort of visitors, contractors, and authorized personnel within controlled or restricted areas. This role performs routine escort and access-support tasks under established procedures and close supervision. The position requires reliability, situational awareness, professionalism, and the ability to follow instructions in a security-sensitive environment. Escort visitors, contractors, and other authorized individuals within designated secured or restricted areas following established procedures. Maintain visual supervision of escorted individuals at all times and ensure compliance with site rules. Assist with transporting visitors between entrances, staging areas, and approved work locations, as assigned. Verify visitor badges and ensure proper identification is visibly displayed while in controlled areas. Observe and report any unusual activity, safety concerns, or potential security issues to supervisors or security personnel. Follow posted safety and security rules while escorting individuals in operational or outdoor environments. Log escort activities or complete basic documentation as directed. Provide courteous, professional interaction with visitors and staff. Support front desk operations, including visitor assistance and administrative tasks. Provide support to classified site(s) in accordance with security procedures. Assist with basic delivery activities, including receipt and distribution of materials. Perform general support duties to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. Minimum qualifications include: Active U.S. security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one. Ability to obtain and maintain site-specific access approvals and badging. Valid driver's license: driving is required for the role. Basic communication skills and ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to remain attentive and alert during assigned shifts. Ability to work indoors, outdoors, or in variable environmental conditions. Dependable, punctual, and willing to work assigned schedules, including shifts or weekends if needed. This is an on-site in a lab. Preferred qualifications include: Prior experience in customer service, facilities support, warehouse, manufacturing, or entry-level security roles. Familiarity with safety rules or working in controlled environments (manufacturing, industrial, or defense sites). Military service or participation in ROTC or similar programs. Knowledge and skills include: Basic understanding of workplace safety and security expectations. Ability to follow procedures consistently and ask questions when unsure. Professional demeanor and respectful customer service skills. Situational awareness and willingness to report concerns promptly. Basic written skills for simple logs or activity reports. Ability to work effectively as part of a team under supervision. Physical requirements include: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel; crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
