It is the leading emergency facility in the area with a Level II Trauma Center in the Coastal Bend, staffed with physicians and nurses specially trained in emergency services.The Pavilion and North Tower house a state-of-the-art emergency department, ICU, Cardiac Cath Lab, and surgical suitesA teaching facility in affiliation with the Texas A&M University System Health and Science Center College of MedicineAccredited Chest Pain CenterAccredited Joint Commission Stroke TeamSummary:The Paramedic is a certified and/or licensed paramedic and is part of the Emergency Department patient care team who collaboratively works in a complementary and assistive role with nursing. The Paramedic performs a variety of RN delegated tasks under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. He/she assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with training, competence and skill. He/she is knowledgeable of and follows all hospital policies and procedures. Consistently assists the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, adequately stocked and safe patient environment.Responsibilities:Maintains a clean and safe environment, and manages all assigned supplies and equipmentDemonstrates proficiency in setting up procedures as delegated.Completely operates patient monitoring equipment, records, rhythm strips, runs 12 lead EKGs, biomarkers and glucometer readings under the direction of the RN.Performs phlebotomy, collects laboratory specimens as ordered and inserts saline lock, foley catheter and nasal gastric tubes under the direction of the RN.Assist in patient care, obtains and documents vital signs, provides patient hygiene, maintains clear and respectful communications with patients, families and the healthcare team.Transports patients to radiology and nursing units utilizing appropriate transport and monitoring equipment.Requirements:Education/SkillsHigh School Graduate or equivalentExperienceTwo to three years' experience in a doctor's office or other ambulatory health care settingLicenses, Registrations, or CertificationsCertified EMT – P (Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic)CPR (American Heart Association)ACLS within 6 months of hire/transfer dateBLSDe-escalation training required within 90 days of hire/transfer datePALS within 18 months of hire/transfer dateWork Schedule:7PM - 7AMWork Type:Full Time
