Structural Engineer
Overview
Join Stantec’s Buildings team to advance diverse structural projects with a collaborative, design-focused practice. You’ll evaluate and engineer structural systems, develop designs with BIM, and coordinate with internal teams and external partners to meet codes and standards. You’ll contribute to project documentation, analyses, and value engineering while helping shape standards for the structural group. This role offers meaningful impact through sustainable, integrated design and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
ResponsibilitiesEvaluate and engineer structural systems for projects of varying size and complexityDevelop designs via sketches, models, diagrams, and visual formats; utilize BIM for 3D models and provide markupsPrepare and revise documentation across structural phases (site plans, floor plans, diagrams, details)Lead project coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders (owners, consultants, contractors, vendors)Participate in client requirement meetings, value analysis, and basic cost estimatingAssist senior staff in scope, budget, deliverables, staffing, and schedule managementCoordinate preparation of project specifications with construction documentsPerform calculations with company and proprietary software; apply advanced analysis to specialized elementsContribute to constructability reviews and QA/QC on projectsAssist in developing new standards and specifications for the structural group
