Network Field Engineer
Our customer is looking for a Field Network Engineer for a 6 month+ contract that is 100% onsite in San Francisco, CA. The Senior Field Network Engineer will serve as a versatile, onsite technical resource capable of supporting network infrastructure, security platforms, and hands on data center activities. This role combines advanced engineering expertise with practical onsite support to ensure seamless execution of upgrades, migrations, documentation, and operational tasks across the client’s environment. The engineer will act as a single point of technical delivery, supporting both strategic engineering initiatives and day to day physical infrastructure needs.Key ResponsibilitiesNetwork Infrastructure EngineeringSupport upgrades to Cisco switching and routing infrastructure, including configuration, validation, and cutover execution. Assist with network reIP and migration activities across data center, campus, and remote environments. Validate end to end connectivity and network functionality during migration windows. Troubleshoot routing, switching, and connectivity issues using Cisco platforms and associated tooling. Coordinate implementation activities with internal engineering, operations, and project teams. Security Engineering (Palo Alto Networks)Support upgrades, configuration changes, and policy updates on Palo Alto Networks firewalls. Assist with NAT, segmentation, and security policy modifications required for network migrations. Validate firewall behavior, traffic flows, and security posture during re?IP and cutover events. Troubleshoot firewall related issues, including routing interactions, policy enforcement, and session behavior. Maintain accurate documentation of firewall architectures, security zones, and device inventories. Network Services SupportAssist with configuration and validation of core network services including DHCP, DNS, and IPAM. Ensure service continuity during reIP and migration activities. Troubleshoot service?related issues such as DNS resolution, DHCP scope behavior, and IP address conflicts. Infrastructure DocumentationProduce and maintain accurate documentation including: Network topology diagrams Rack elevation diagrams Cabling layouts Installed device inventories Update documentation as upgrades, migrations, and physical changes occur.
