Instructional Aide - Connellsville, PA

A specialized opportunity is available for a Paraprofessional with expertise in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or experience as a Behavioral Technician to provide dedicated 1:1 support for an elementary student within a Life Skills program. This placement is located in Connellsville, PA, and is on a contract basis.The student is a social and friendly child with Down Syndrome who is currently undergoing an autism evaluation. While thriving on peer interaction, he requires an experienced provider skilled in managing high-acuity behavioral challenges. Due to the physical demands of managing elopement and behavioral incidents, the role requires stamina and specialized intervention techniques. Previous support lacked consistent use of IEP-prescribed tools such as visual schedules, timers, and scheduled bathroom breaks, which are vital to this student's success.Key Responsibilities:Provide behavioral support addressing elopement, physical resistance (e.g., biting, scratching), and property destruction.Implement and maintain transition strategies using visual schedules, timers, and other tools to reduce anxiety and task refusal.Manage personal care needs, including adherence to a scheduled toileting routine to address newly emerged behaviors.Escort the student safely on and off transportation during arrival and dismissal.Maintain reliable, data-driven documentation aligned with behavioral interventions.Candidate Qualifications:Credentialed as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or equivalent preferred; other qualified professionals will be considered.Strong background in ABA or specialized special education settings.Ability to maintain consistency with behavioral strategies and demonstrate professional stamina.Availability for the full school day, generally from approximately 8:15 AM to 3:15 PM.A commitment to learning the student's unique needs and implementing IEP directives diligently.This position demands a highly skilled, reliable individual dedicated to fostering student success and safety.
