Donation Development Liaison (Hospital)
Job DescriptionThe Donation Development Liaison supports the mission, goals, and strategic plan of the OPO by supporting the development, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of educational and development strategies designed to increase organ and tissue donation. The Donation Development Liaison participates in potential donor referral management together with Organ and Family Services staff.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSFollows Policies and Procedures to ensure compliance with rules and regulations from governing and regulatory agenciesParticipates with Donation Development responsibilities for Association of Organ Procurement Organizations (AOPO) and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) inspections and accreditationParticipates in departmental fiduciary responsibilitiesParticipates in planning and implementing a strategic plan for Donation DevelopmentParticipates in the development of hospital policies and procedures to ensure compliance with rules and regulations from governing and regulatory agenciesEstablishes and maintains a positive effective working relationship with:Internal clients, including department management, the OPO management team and staff in other departmentsHospital staff at hospitals in the OPO Donation Service Area (DSA) including senior leadership and Key physicians and surgeonsTransplant center and laboratory personnelOther key personnel throughout the communityDonation Development dutiesServes as liaison between the OPO and hospitalsConducts routine visits to hospitals, and develops solid relationships with hospital personnel as established on current standards of practiceEnsures needs assessments are conducted at the OPO DSA hospitalsDevelops and implements written plans based on the results of the assessments. Ensures that plans are shared with and approved by key hospital staff in a timely mannerGenerates and evaluates statistics and reports as established by current standards of practice to assess needs and inform appropriate hospital personnel when a hospital is not in compliance with organ donation laws and regulations and or does not meet standardsEnsures the development and maintenance of tracking tools to monitor hospital profiles which include key contacts and informationEnsures timely completion of goals monthly including but not limited to keeping all database and reporting systems are kept up-to-dateResponds to real-time case activity according as established on current standards of practiceParticipates in TOAST call as established by current standards of practiceAddresses any issues identified on casesParticipates in referral management together with Organ and Family Services staff as assignedProvides on-site support during referrals and donor cases as assigned; keep key donation champions notified of progress on caseAssists with cases pending authorization, during donor management, prior to and after recoveryCommunicates effectively with Administrators on Call (AOCs) and provides updates while onsiteCompletes real-time iTransplant documentation and all other required documentation in a timely mannerConducts hospital surveys and post-donor surveys to obtain feedback from hospital staff and provide survey results to hospital staffConducts on-site after-action reviews (debriefing) with hospital personnel after donor cases as established on current standards of practice and deliver outcome lettersPlans, develops, creates and implements education programs and process improvements for hospital staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure hospital compliance with donation regulations including: communication, education, PowerPoint presentations, brochures, libraries and other tools. These other tools include: hospital programs and events, new nurse orientations and continuing education programs for all non-organ producing hospitalsRepresents the OPO at public events that require a speaker/guest with clinical knowledge, as requestedParticipates in the OPO committees, special functions, and community events, as neededParticipates in external organizations such as The Organization for Transplant Professionals (NATCO), CMS, United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS), and AOPO as assignedPromotes team unity and leadership by example, serves as mentor to new staff and performs additional duties and projects as assigned by the department manager and/or directorPerforms other duties as assignedEmployees must adhere to and remain in full compliance with the OPO's Motor Vehicle Driving Policy as outlined in the Motor Vehicle Records and Driver Safety policy PC.334.Reasonable Accommodations StatementTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.RequirementsSKILLS & ABILITIESEducation: Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or university) in marketing, public relations or field of science, or similar area of study.Experience: One year of experience in an Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) required. Hospital Development/Donation Development experience preferred.Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Office programs Experience with website development and management, including Word Press, preferred.Certificates & Licenses: NoneOther Requirements: As assigned
