Market Manager (Columbus)
The Market Manager is responsible for leading and growing a defined geographic staffing market within the light industrial and warehousing sector. This role oversees Business Development Managers (BDMs), recruiters, and on-site teams to ensure strong sales performance, operational excellence, client satisfaction, and profitability. The Market Manager drives strategy, builds high-performing teams, and ensures consistent execution across all accounts.Key Responsibilities Market Growth & Sales Leadership:Develop Market Strategy — Build and execute a growth plan for the region, including target industries, pricing, and competitive positioning.Lead BDM Team — Set quotas, coach sales activity, review pipelines, and support closing large or strategic accounts.Expand Client Portfolio — Identify new business opportunities in warehousing, distribution, manufacturing, and logistics.Negotiate Contracts — Ensure profitable pricing, margin protection, and compliance with client requirements.Operational Excellence:Oversee Recruiting Operations — Ensure fill rates, time-to-fill, onboarding quality, and candidate experience meet standards.Ensure Safety & Compliance — Maintain OSHA compliance, client safety protocols, and incident reporting.Optimize Workforce Delivery — Manage scheduling, attendance, productivity, and on-siteDrive Quality Metrics — Monitor KPIs such as turnover, retention, fulfillment, and client satisfaction.Team Leadership & Development:Manage and Develop Staff — Recruit, train, and mentor BDMs, recruiters, and on-site managers.Performance Management — Conduct reviews, set expectations, and address performance gaps.Culture Building — Foster a high-energy, accountable, collaborative environment.Financial & P&L Ownership:Manage P&L — Own revenue, gross margin, expenses, and profitability for the market.Set Bill & Pay Rates — Ensure competitive pricing while protecting margins.Forecasting & Reporting — Provide accurate weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance forecasts.Qualifications:3–5+ years of leadership experience in staffing, preferably light industrial/warehouse.Proven success managing sales teams or BDMs.Strong understanding of recruiting operations, workforce management, and safety.Experience with P&L management, pricing strategy, and forecasting.Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship building skills.
