Title: Senior Linux System AdministratorHybrid role - Onsite work is expected 2-3 days per week.Submission Due: 05/05/2026This position is required to be on call for evenings and weekends to meet business needs.Note: Prior experience working for a state client is mandatory.Job Description: The primary role is to install and configure the Linux operating system as well as manage and maintain Linux-based systems on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) platform. The position will be responsible for the deployment, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, and more. It will also be responsible for System maintenance by reviewing error logs, system backups, monitoring system performance to prevent slowdowns and disruptions, License deployments and setup, may include setting up a Linux Satellite server and deployment manager, and providing any needed technical support. Strong knowledge of Linux administration, AWS, and networking are required for this role. Manage, configure, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers across development, staging, and production environments Build New and Manage existing home-grown Linux scripts for ongoing Operations using shell scripting (Bash/Python) Handle User management, permissions, and access control (RBAC, sudo policies) Manage patching, upgrades, and package installation based on Dev and Security team advice. Implement system hardening and least privilege security best practices Manage and Upgrade Support for backup and recovery processes at the OS level Collaborate with Application Development and other Operation team members for deployment strategies and environment stability Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting Maintain Documentation for system configurations and procedures Work experience on AWS Storage (FSx, EBS, EFS, S3)and Terraform is plus.SkillRequired / DesiredAmount of ExperienceStrong experience with Linux administration experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux: RHEL on AWS platformRequired3Architect, implement, and manage enterprise-grade authentication for Linux servers using Active Directory, SSSD, Kerberos, and LDAP/LDAPS.Required5Hands-on experience in performance monitoring enablement to manage the Scaling up and down of the environmentsRequired3Apply STIG/hardening, manage OS-level firewalls, patching cycles, CIS controls, audit logging, SSH hardening, and vulnerability remediation.Required7Build and maintain automation using Ansible, shell scripting, and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/CloudFormation).Required3Administer EC2 Linux instances across multiple AWS accounts (Prod / Non-Prod).Required3Experience with cloud infrastructure, specifically Amazon Web Services (AWS) like VPC, EC2, S3, RDS, ALB, SSM and EBS.Required3Troubleshoot authentication failures (Kerberos, LDAP), boot failures, kernel panics, network issues, file system issues (AWS ONTAP FSX/EBS/EFS).Required5Implement proactive alerting, metric dashboards, and log ingestion pipelines.Required5Strong scripting skills, specifically in Bash or PythonRequired7Create and maintain runbooks, architecture diagrams, troubleshooting guides, automation documentation, and onboarding materials for Linux operations.Required3Proficient with network tools such as iptables, Linux IPVS, HAProxy, etcRequired3Experience with security best practices and implementing security controls in a AWS cloud environmentRequired3Linux certifications (RHCT, RHCE and LPIC) will be considered an advantageRequired
