Claims Manager
The Manager of Claims is responsible for leading and managing the Claims Operations team, which may include Property and Casualty, Lender Placed, and other Specialty products. This role involves developing and implementing procedures and guidelines to achieve company objectives efficiently. You will oversee the performance, training, and development of associates, ensuring alignment with career and company goals. Collaboration with Compliance, SIU (Special Investigations Unit), and IT departments is essential to address regulatory changes, fraud investigations, and technological advancements. You will drive the team to meet corporate goals related to production, EBITDA, revenue growth, and adherence to company values.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership and Supervision: Direct and manage the Claims Administration team, ensuring effective oversight and coordination of associates and functions to meet established standards. Policy Development: Plan and recommend policies to support departmental and company objectives, promoting best practices. Communication and Coordination: Facilitate effective communication and coordination between units, associates, insureds, agents, and policyholders. Workflow Management: Evaluate and monitor workflow by liaising with supervisors and associates to identify and address needs and problem areas. Associate Development: Mentor and develop associates to maximize their potential, providing guidance on career progression and company goals. Technology and Systems: Investigate and implement technological solutions to enhance claims adjudication, researching and resolving system data issues. Project Management: Prioritize workloads and manage projects to meet deadlines, ensuring efficient execution. Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive Desk Manual and Disaster Recovery documentation. Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about state and federal laws, underwriting guidelines, and production standards to ensure compliance. Efficiency Improvement: Suggest procedural changes, report trends and issues, and drive continuous improvement. Human Resources: Conduct interviews, evaluate applicants, and maintain knowledge of HR rules and regulations relevant to the role. QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Preferred: 220, 520, or 620 insurance license. 7 to 10 years of professional experience in claims management. Experience in supervising and leading claims teams. Preferred: LOMA and/or HIAA education. Proven track record of team leadership and performance improvement. Strong execution skills and commitment to delivering on promises.
