As part of our work, we install and maintain fiber optic systems within and around substations—supporting critical communication and control systems for the electrical grid.Our crews travel from project to project throughout South and Central Florida, working outdoors and building essential infrastructure that keeps power systems running.Position OverviewWe are looking for a Fiber Optic Technician (Fiber Optic Groundman) with hands-on experience running, landing, and terminating single-mode fiber (SMF).This is a field-based role working primarily in and around substations. You'll be part of a small crew responsible for installing fiber systems from the ground up—routing cable, prepping, terminating, and supporting testing activities.This is a great opportunity for someone with fiber experience who enjoys working outdoors and wants steady, project-based work with consistent hours and overtime potential.Ideal Candidate LocationCandidates based along or near SR-70 or SR-80 corridors (e.g., Okeechobee, Labelle, Clewiston, Arcadia, etc.) are especially well-positioned for our typical project locations.Typical Work AreasProjects are generally located in:Palm Beach • Clewiston • Labelle • Okeechobee • Sebring • Arcadia • Fort Pierce • Lake Worth • Stuart • Boynton BeachKey ResponsibilitiesInstall, route, and secure fiber optic cable in substation environmentsPrepare, land, and terminate single-mode fiber (SMF)Perform fiber splicing and basic testing (preferred)Assist with trenching, conduit, and cable placement as neededLabel, dress, and organize fiber neatly within panels and enclosuresWork from prints, fiber diagrams, and basic construction drawingsMaintain a clean and safe job siteWork closely with crew members to complete daily tasks efficientlyQualificationsExperience running and terminating fiber optic cable (SMF preferred)Basic understanding of fiber installation standards and practicesAbility to work outdoors in all weather conditionsWillingness to travel throughout South and Central FloridaReliable personal vehicle (mileage is reimbursed)Strong work ethic and ability to work as part of a crewPreferred:Fiber splicing and testing experienceExperience working in substations, industrial, or utility environmentsOSHA 10 or other safety certificationsCompensation & Perks$23–$27/hour (based on experience)Overtime opportunities (paid at applicable rates)Per diem providedHotel accommodations coveredMileage reimbursement for use of personal vehicleComprehensive benefits package (health, dental, vision, etc.)Why Join Us?Steady, project-based work across Florida4-day workweek (3-day weekends most weeks)Opportunity to build specialized experience in substation fiber systemsWork on critical infrastructure projects with a growing companyIf you have fiber experience and are looking for consistent work, travel opportunities, and a strong team environment—we'd like to hear from you.
