General Foreperson
Position SummaryThe General Foreperson provides hands-on leadership and is responsible for scheduling, planning, coordinating, and supervising tree crews. This position is also responsible for assisting in cost control, ensuring workplace safety, and consistent and fair application of all company employment policies. The General Foreperson is a first-line manager and key customer interface.Duties and Responsibilities IncludeEssential Duties:Safety and TrainingUnderstands equipment operations, work processes, and safety procedures for employee trainingIdentifies needs for employee training and ensures training is completed and up to dateMaintains adherence to company safety policies, standards, and good practicesEnsures completion of safety and hazard assessments and establishes work zones and traffic controlConducts safety and other informational or educational meetingsParticipates in incident investigationsEnsures timely responses, actions, and corrections to safety issuesPlanning and SchedulingReads and understands charts, orders, schedules, contracts, drawings, and other recordsPlan and establish work schedules (including required overtime), assignments, and sequencesArranges for notification and permission to complete workRecommends additions and releasing of personnel as required to maintain the scheduleSupplies, Vehicles, and EquipmentInventories and obtains supplies, materials, and equipment in compliance with company policiesInspects vehicles, machinery, equipment, and toolsCommunicates repairs to the supervisor and corporate office and ensures repairs are completedQuality ControlOversees execution of work by employees and ensures work meets specificationsCommunicates with serviced customers to ensure customer satisfactionEvaluates and attends to customer errors, complaints, and concerns to provide resolutionHuman Resources and SupervisionInterviews and hire employees in compliance with company guidelines and proceduresSupervises the activities of assigned employees, assesses competency and capabilityTakes appropriate action and disciplinaryMeasures to deal with performance concernsMaintains positive employee relations with and between employeesStimulates maximum efficiency and productivity of employeesAdministrationKeeps records of employment matters and reports to the supervisor on issues, progress, and delaysTransmits all information and documentation to employees promptlySubmits all documentation to the supervisor and corporate office in an accurate and timely mannerDuties and responsibilities may change with or without notice What You'll Bring to the TeamThree (3) or more years of directly related experienceTwo (2) or more years of experience in a Group Lead/Supervisory roleKnowledge of established industry hazards, standards, practices, procedures, and techniquesQualified to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical CertificationValid drivers license with an acceptable driving record per Company policyKnowledge of essential job functions and responsibilitiesAttention to detailOrganizational skillsStrong oral and written communication skillsAbility to problem solveMeet all physical requirements of the positionPass all drug and alcohol screens as required by Company policy and, if applicable, required by DOT regulations18 years of age or older, or 21 if CDL is requiredLegally authorized to work in the United States Preferred: CDL (Class B Minimum)Herbicide Applicator's License in one or more statesConversational knowledge of the Spanish languagePlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive list of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
