As the Summer School Nurse, you will be the primary healthcare provider on-site, ensuring students receive timely, high-quality care in a safe and supportive environment.You will have the opportunity to make a direct impact on scholar readiness to learn by managing day-to-day health needs, responding to medical concerns and emergencies, and ensuring all health protocols are implemented with consistency and care. This role is ideal for a nurse who thrives in a fast-paced school environment and is committed to providing compassionate, student-centered care while maintaining strong operational and compliance standards.What is in it for you?The opportunity to make a direct impact on scholar safety, wellness, and access to learning during Summer AcademyA meaningful, student-centered nursing role in a supportive school-based environmentExperience working within a structured educational program focused on care, compliance, and operational excellenceThe ability to build relationships with scholars, families, and school staff in a trusted healthcare roleHands-on experience managing pediatric and adolescent health needs in a fast-paced settingThe opportunity to strengthen school nursing, emergency response, and care coordination skillsA clear, mission-driven role where your work is highly visible and valued across the school communityWhat will you be doing?Providing daily nursing care and health services to scholars participating in Summer AcademyAssessing and responding to student illnesses, injuries, and medical concerns throughout the school dayAdministering medications in accordance with physician orders, parent authorization, and school protocolsMonitoring scholars with chronic health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, allergies, and seizuresResponding to medical emergencies and providing first aid and emergency care as neededImplementing emergency response procedures and coordinating with emergency personnel when necessaryMaintaining accurate, timely, and confidential health records, including medication logs and incident reportsCommunicating with families regarding student health concerns in a professional and timely mannerCollaborating with school leadership to ensure scholar health and safety needs are met during programmingMaintaining a clean, organized, and fully stocked health office environmentManaging medical supplies and ensuring readiness of all health and emergency equipmentSupporting health and safety planning for field trips, events, and summer activitiesEnsuring full compliance with school, district, and state health regulations and nursing standardsUpholding confidentiality and professionalism in all student health interactionsWhat do we require from you?Active New Jersey Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) license requiredCurrent CPR and First Aid certification requiredExperience in pediatric, school nursing, adolescent health, camp, or similar settings preferredStrong clinical judgment and ability to respond effectively in emergency situationsAbility to work independently in a fast-paced school environmentStrong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly with documentation and complianceExcellent communication skills and ability to interact professionally with scholars, families, and staffCommitment to maintaining confidentiality and following all health and safety regulationsComfort managing multiple student health needs and priorities throughout the school dayAbility to remain calm, responsive, and solution-oriented in high-pressure situationsProficiency in maintaining accurate health records and medication administration logsBilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to applyWant to join our FAmily?We are Foundation Academies: Trenton, New Jersey’s largest and highest-ranking K-12 free public charter school serving more than 1,000 scholars across three schools on two campuses.
