This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program.QualificationsTo qualify for this position - you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements (if applicable) listed in the job announcement. Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation.Basic RequirementsUnited States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA PolicyDegree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicineThe degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completedCurrent - full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State - Territory - or Commonwealth of the United States - or in the District of ColumbiaResidency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training - approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification(NOTE: VA physicians involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status.) Approved residencies are: (1) Those approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) - b) OR [(2) Those approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) -OR (3) Other residencies (non-US residency training programs followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice in the United States) - which the local Medical Staff Executive Committee deems to have provided the applicant with appropriate professional training and believes has exposed the physician to an appropriate range of patient care experiencesResidents currently enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited residency training programs and who would otherwise meet the basic requirements for appointment are eligible to be appointed as ""Physician Resident Providers"" (PRPs)PRPs must be fully licensed physicians (i.e. - both for diagnosis and treatment in the inpatient and outpatient settings and by telehealthParticipates in the expanded use of clinical video telehealth (VVC and CVT)/electronic consultation (e-Consult) to improve access to cardiology careParticipates in the referral management process for cardiology consultsProvides cardiology consultation to other health care providers (nurse practitioners/physician assistants - medical students - and residents/fellows)Provides comprehensive patient care in the form of non-invasive - consultative - and inpatient/outpatient cardiology careExpertise in the interpretation/reading of EKGs - Holter monitors - stress tests - Zio - Echo - loop records - tilt testing - non-invasive ICD stimulation - pacer and ICD evaluation and programming - as appropriate to the telehealth setting - are requiredCentral venous line insertion and management - intra-arterial line insertion and management - cardioversion - and moderate sedation privileges and fluoroscopy privileges are not required unless the Incumbent provides concurrent in-person care servicesThe physician is responsible for recognizing patients appropriate for referral or consultationEvaluates the patient to assess changes in physical status during inpatient or outpatient care via in-person exams or telemedicine careDocuments every encounter into the electronic medical record - with the appropriate level of detail - with an assessment and plan for ongoing careAny notes written by the fellow - resident - student - or midlevel provider under Cardiology supervision are reviewed by the staff Cardiologist - with corrections and additions added in an attending note - as appropriate and in a mannerClinical activities may include - but are not limited to - clinical assessment and evaluation of Inpatients and Outpatients - reading and interpretation of cardiac studiesPerforms other duties as assignedWork Schedule: Monday - Friday - 8:00am - 4:30pm Position is remote eligible and is currently exempted from return to office (RTO) requirementsRemote exempted positions are reviewed every 6 months and DOES NOT imply permanent remote work statusThis position may be required to report to an office in the future.
