Our client is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee accounting and financial operations for a growing organization in the construction, land development, and civil contracting industries.This leadership role will be responsible for managing the company's accounting infrastructure, strengthening reporting processes, and delivering greater financial visibility across multiple business entities and projects.This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting leader who enjoys building processes, supporting operational decision-making, and working within an entrepreneurial, family-owned environment focused on long-term growth and collaboration.Position OverviewThe Controller will lead all core accounting functions while partnering closely with executive leadership and operations teams to support the company's financial performance. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical accounting background, experience within construction-related industries, and the ability to create scalable processes in a growing organization.Key ResponsibilitiesDirect all accounting operations across multiple entitiesManage monthly close activities, financial statement preparation, and account reconciliationsEnsure accuracy and integrity of the balance sheet and overall financial reportingSupervise and mentor accounting staff while helping build a strong, accountable team cultureOversee job costing processes, work-in-progress reporting, and project margin analysisDevelop and implement improved accounting workflows, systems, and internal controlsReduce manual processes and help modernize financial operations and reporting capabilitiesWork closely with the CFO and operational leaders to provide meaningful financial analysis and business insightsSupport cash flow forecasting, debt tracking, and overall financial planning initiativesMaintain compliance with accounting standards and company policiesQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting requiredStrong experience with financial reporting, reconciliations, and balance sheet managementBackground supporting multi-entity accounting structuresAbility to work independently and bring organization and structure to a growing businessExperience within construction, homebuilding, land development, or other project-driven industriesKnowledge of job costing and WIP reporting conceptsPreferred ExperienceCPA and/or Master's degree in Accounting preferredExperience with construction and project management systems such as MarkSystems, Procore, or similar platforms
