Job Description SummaryThe Customer Quality Engineer – Manufacturing is responsible for investigating nonconformance reports (NCRs), leading root cause analysis, supporting containment and disposition of nonconforming material, validating new equipment and process changes, and assisting with internal and external ISO audits. This role is primarily manufacturing-focused and works on the plant floor with operations, quality, engineering, and suppliers to resolve issues quickly, drive corrective actions, and maintain compliance with quality system requirements.Job DescriptionRoles and ResponsibilitiesReview and investigate NCRs to determine defect cause, scope, and required corrective actionLead or support root cause analysis using structured problem-solving methodsWork directly with plant personnel to contain, control, and disposition nonconforming materialCoordinate cross-functionally to ensure suspect material is properly identified, contained, and resolvedValidate new equipment, tooling, and process changes to confirm they meet quality and performance requirementsReview validation results and document readiness for production releaseSupport internal ISO audits by preparing records, participating in audits, and addressing findingsSupport external ISO audits by providing evidence, answering auditor questions, and helping close findingsAnalyze quality data to identify trends, recurring defects, and improvement opportunitiesCommunicate findings, actions, and open issues to plant leadership and cross-functional teamsSupport continuous improvement efforts to reduce defects, scrap, and repeat nonconformancesEnsure compliance with company procedures, ISO requirements, and applicable customer standards Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or related fieldMinimum of 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing quality, quality engineering, or a related production environmentExperience reviewing NCRs and leading or supporting root cause analysisExperience supporting containment and disposition of nonconforming materialExperience working directly with plant operations to resolve quality issuesFamiliarity with ISO quality systems and audit supportStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilityProficiency with Microsoft Excel and quality reporting toolsAbility to work on the manufacturing floor and respond to urgent quality issuesDesired CharacteristicsExperience with supplier quality issues and incoming material dispositionExperience validating new equipment, tooling, or process changesExperience with corrective action systems such as 8D, CAPA, or RCCAFamiliarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement toolsExperience supporting both internal and external auditsKnowledge of GD&T or dimensional inspection conceptsExperience with ERP, QMS, or manufacturing quality systemsCore CompetenciesStrong problem-solving and analytical thinkingStrong collaboration across plant, supplier, and quality functionsAttention to detailAbility to manage multiple prioritiesSound judgment in evaluating nonconformancesStrong documentation and communication skillsAbility to work independently and drive issues to closureComfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentWork Environment / Physical RequirementsAbility to work in a manufacturing environment and spend significant time on the plant floorAbility to interact with production, inspection, engineering, and supplier contactsAbility to support audits, validation activities, and occasional off-shift needs depending on plant demandsReporting RelationshipThis position reports to the Quality ManagerEligibility RequirementMust be legally authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship now or in the futureThis position is 100% onsite at our GE Vernova Greenville, SC manufacturing site - Forrester DriveBenefits Available To YouGE Vernova employees rise to the challenge of building a world that works. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
