With our full range of packaging solutions and long term partnership and service, we help customers achieve operational excellence today while building the future of packaging together.As a Mechanical Assembler at BW Packaging, you will be responsible for the mechanical assembly of machines, equipment, and conveyor systems, utilizing hand and power tools while reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints. You will collaborate within a team environment to assist with machine start-up, debugging, testing, and customer acceptance testing, while also identifying problems and recommending solutions. Additionally, you will support the preparation of equipment for shipping, including tear-down and crating of machinery, in a non-climate-controlled environment.Job ResponsibilitiesPerform mechanical assembly of machines, equipment, sub-assemblies, and components, including the assembly and testing of conveyor systemsRead and interpret mechanical engineering drawings and blueprints, with the ability to convert measurements between decimals and fractionsOperate a variety of hand tools, power tools, forklifts, and manlifts safely and effectively to complete assembly tasksAssist with final machine adjustments, start-up, debugging, testing, and customer acceptance testing to ensure equipment meets specificationsIdentify mechanical problems during the assembly and testing process and recommend appropriate solutionsWork collaboratively within a team environment while also demonstrating the ability to work independently with minimal supervisionPrepare finished equipment for shipping, including tear-down and crating of machinery for safe transportDemonstrate strong mechanical aptitude in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment while maintaining quality and safety standardsEducation and Experience Requirements3+ years of assembly experience preferred3+ years of assembly experience requiredHigh school diploma or GED equivalentWill need to bring own basic hand toolsAt Barry-Wehmiller we recognize that people come with a wealth of experience and talent beyond just the technical requirements of a job.
