School Behavior Specialist in Elk River, MN

Job Description Must have completed Behavior Specialist / ABA Therapy training and have a minimum 1+ years Behavior Therapy experience. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.This contract position offers an opportunity to serve as an Onsite Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) for the 20252026 school year, supporting multiple elementary schools within a large Minnesota school district. The BIS will collaborate closely with another BIS and Special Education Administrator to provide specialized behavioral support and interventions designed to promote positive student outcomes.Key Responsibilities:Conduct functional behavior assessments and develop individualized positive behavior intervention plans.Implement strategies to reinforce appropriate behaviors and utilize de-escalation techniques to manage challenging situations.Collaborate with educational teams to tailor programming and support individualized education plans (IEPs) according to state and federal guidelines.Provide training and ongoing consultation to school staff regarding behavioral strategies and best practices.Ensure a safe and positive learning environment by maintaining compliance with district policies and using flexible, adaptive approaches during crisis situations.Utilize data-driven decision-making to monitor progress and adjust interventions.Support four elementary school sites, including Ramsey, Madison, Rum River, and Jefferson Elementary Schools.Qualifications:Valid Tier 3 or 4 license if applying as a Special Education Teacher.Credentials as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Special Education Teacher; Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT) are not eligible.Experience conducting functional behavior assessments and implementing positive behavior support plans.Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.Strong problem-solving skills and calmness under pressure.Work Details:Location: Anoka, Minnesota area.Contract period: January 5, 2026, to June 5, 2026.Hours: Approximately 18.75 hours per week, generally from 8:30 a.m. to 4:10 p.m., with slight variations.Work across four elementary schools within the district.This role demands a dedicated professional ready to contribute expertise in behavioral interventions and foster an inclusive and supportive educational environment.
