Job Title: Senior Engineer - Manufacturing - MEDepartments: OperationsReports To: Manufacturing Engineering ManagerJob Class: Salaried ExemptPay Rate: Dependent upon experienceLocation: Orlando, FL (On-site)Position Summary:The Senior Engineer reports to Manufacturing Engineering Manager and provides technical expertise necessary to design, develop and implement manufacturing systems, processes and tooling. This role supports the fabrication and production of quartz crystals, frequency control devices, and spectrum control productsJob Duties and Responsibilities:Maintains various manufacturing processes which include, but not limited to welding / joining, soldering, lead forming, etc.Uses engineering tools and statistical concepts to maintain and improve processesUsing Lean manufacturing techniques to improve material flow and to reduce COGS.Participates in collaborative engineering on new designs ensuring compliance to customer prints regarding materials used and finishesSuggests mechanical design methods for machining, plating, joining, plating, etc. ensuring compliance to applicable requirementsHelps manages new component requirements for electronic and mechanical componentsGeneration of production level documentation and proceduresCreate and interpret simulation models using SolidWorks to analyze structural, thermal, and dynamic behavior of components and assemblies.Specifies and initiates purchase of manufacturing tools, equipment, and suppliesPlans, specifies, and justifies capital equipment expendituresLead product and/or process improvement teamsWorks closely with cross-functional engineering groups performing concurrent engineeringSupervises: None. Will assist and utilize ME Interns as needed.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Hands-on role requiring interaction among multiple disciplines within Mtron.Previous experience with manufacturing hand assembled soldered components is preferredProficiency with multiple software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.Proficiency in SolidWorks is requiredExperience with AutoCAD, Minitab and Microsoft AX is preferred.Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a MUST.Familiarity with CNC machiningFamiliarity with other machining: lathe, wire EDM, etc.Familiarity with various electroplating materials (nickel, silver, etc.)Proficient with CNC programming via Master Cam is prefered.Must be able to work with ITAR data without a license; Eligibility for and ability to maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.Education, Experience and Training:Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university.Minimum of five (5) years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment is required. Physical Requirements and Working Environment:Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials up to 50lbs.Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach as required.Manual dexterity to operate hand tools, machine controls, and measuring instruments.Ability to safely climb, descend, and work from ladders, stairs, and elevated platforms at verifying heights.Work is performed in a combination of office and manufacturing environments.Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to chemicals, fumes, and related by-products.Other Duties:This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities required of the employee.
