Scientist I, Immuno-Oncology & Cell Therapy *PC
Gaithersburg, MDApril 1st, 2026
Description Your Role:
As a member of the Research and Development team, you will have the opportunity to play a key, hands on role in performing scientific experiments that lead to the next generation of cell and gene therapies. You will be responsible for human immune cell isolation and culture, tumor cell line culture and maintenance, carrying out advanced methods of T cell activity analysis, and using gene transfer techniques including lentiviral gene vector design and LNP-based gene delivery. You will also work with hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) and implement new ways to use these cells in gene therapy approaches. These research and development pathways utilize new and innovative technologies developed in-house, such as advanced flow cytometry, imaging, automated cell processing in static and active cultures, and translating lab-scale innovation to clinical systems such as the CliniMACS Prodigy. Our core strength is lentiviral and LPN-based gene vector development. The incumbent will have the opportunity to interact with a highly diverse and collaborative team of scientists focused on research and development of novel cell and gene therapies, to contribute to scientific publications, development of clinic-ready and commercial cell therapy products, and to grow professionally.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Culture and maintenance of primary human immune cells, leukemia and lymphoma cell lines, and cancer cell lines.
Employ state of the art immune cell functional assays including flow cytometry, cytolytic and cytokine secretion analysis, metabolic assays, cell avidity measurement, and gene expression analysis.
Isolation, culture and gene modification of HSCs.
Employ novel gene vector and LNP-based gene modification. Experience in lentiviral gene vectors is a plus.
Work independently and in a team environment, effectively communicating results featuring precise data analytics.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
PhD or MD, preferably with a postdoctoral training and strong expertise in immunology, gene vector biology, cell isolation and expansion techniques.
Cell culture and flow cytometry experience.
Expertise in hematopoietic stem cell culture and gene engineering.
Familiarity with CAR-T cells.
Familiarity with DNA sequence databases, flow cytometry software, statistical software packages for data analysis and presentation.
You are creative, goal-oriented and able to work both in independent and multidisciplinary situations. In addition, you welcome new challenges.
Excellent communication skills and a proven track record in preparing scientific data for presentation.
