Position: Senior System Engineer
Location: Portland, OR

Job Description:
We are seeking a highly experienced system engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will develop the overall system architectures for the Counter Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) products. Our products fall into two categories and rely on portable, embedded processor controlled electronics, communications equipment, and radios. The first product line receives UAS command and control signals for identification. The second product line emits jamming signals to counter the UAS
Required Duties and Responsibilities:
Your primary responsibility is to develop the overall product architecture for the company’s RF based products
You will conduct research and evaluation of new technology and then integrate and coordinate this technical work into new and existing products
You will conduct tradeoff studies and evaluate critical technologies for applicability to new products and product line extensions
You will formulate and guide product development teams by developing system architectures, algorithms and design approaches that meet product requirements and specifications
You will participate in design reviews and approve final designs architectures.
You will have the authority and responsibility to reject designs when they do not meet requirements
You will guide product development teams to integrate the range of work among the technical disciplines to ensure a unified effort towards project requirements and specifications and may assume a chief engineer role for a specific product development
You will evaluate RFPs and RFIs identified by management or business development for compliance with the current and projected product line and provide estimates on NRE required to meet customer requirements
You will identify emerging customer needs and contribute to setting product requirements and specifications. This includes attending at least one, and potentially multiple, company relevant symposia and conferences every year
You will provide technical guidance to management as part of product roadmap definition. This requires matching short-term and long-term product line capability goals with potential technology solutions
Required Skills and Abilities:
15+ years of experience in product development and the design of portable, embedded processor-controlled electronics, communications equipment, and radios
Experience leading a mixed discipline technical team.
Demonstrated experience developing innovative products that successfully address customer and market needs
Understanding of satellite navigation systems, how they work, and their vulnerabilities.
Comfortable working with radio frequency electronics. You must be able to read and understand an RF schematic and be familiar with the critical design challenges of radios and radio jammers.
The ability to read and understand digital electronics schematics, as well as understanding the important challenges of FPGA design. Experience designing and debugging custom electronics boards or FPGAs is an advantage
Strong understanding of real-time software and firmware development. Firmware design experience is an advantage
Exposure to weatherization and packaging design is an advantage
Strong written and verbal communication skills and a team orientation. Publication history that demonstrates written communication skills is an advantage.
Ability to develop creative solutions for product evaluation and testing in a cost constrained environment
Education and related experience:
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with RF focus.
Master of Science degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
Minimum 15 years product development experience and 20+ years of research and industry experience.
Travel Requirements: up to 10%

Must have the ability to stoop, stand, climb, and occasionally lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
Regularly required to crouch and reach to install/move equipment by bending forward at the waist or by bending legs and spine.
Involves movement between departments, floors, and worksites to facilitate.
Working Conditions:
The diversity of work conditions may range from an environment with little or no physical discomfort, such as a general office environment, to an environment where inclement weather may be subject to severe changes in temperature, wind, rain, etc.
Security Clearance:
It is an essential requirement for the person in this role to be a US person.
Salary / Hourly Rate: $150,000-$180,000 annual
Salary/Hourly rate depends on relevant work experience, education, training, essential skills, and/or other factors such as specialized or high-demand professions. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible for an annual bonus. The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of salary or annual bonus.
