This position exists to ensure Montclair's beach and shoreline areas are prepared for daily public use before peak activity begins. While the work often happens early and behind the scenes, its impact is highly visible-directly affecting public safety, guest experience, and the credibility of waterfront operations. Key Responsibilities • Maintain cleanliness across all beach areas through removal of goose waste, loose trash, and debris • Empty and properly dispose of trash from all designated receptacles using MPOA disposal sites • Operate a John Deere tractor to rake beach sand, ensuring completion prior to 10:00 a.m. while minimizing early-morning disruption • Conduct systematic walk-through inspections to identify and report damage, vandalism, or safety hazards • Clean, stock, and maintain restrooms at Dolphin Beach to ensure sanitary, public-ready conditions • Follow structured checklists to ensure consistency across all assigned shoreline areas • Communicate observed issues promptly to supervisory or Safety & Rescue leadership What You Bring • Minimum age of seventeen (17) at time of hire • Strong sense of responsibility, punctuality, and reliability • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision • Attention to detail and pride in maintaining clean, safe public spaces • Physical capability to lift, carry, and manage waste and equipment in outdoor conditions • Willingness to operate equipment safely or learn through provided training • Previous customer service or facilities-related experience preferred Physical Requirements • Ability to perform physical labor including lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, walking, and standing for extended periods • Ability to operate equipment and tools in outdoor conditions, including heat and humidity • Capability to complete repetitive tasks consistently while maintaining quality and awareness The Opportunity This role offers dependable, meaningful work that supports both recreation and public safety.
