Job Title: Associate Computer Security EngineerDuration: Full-Time | 40 Hours/WeekLocation: Aiken, SCSummary:Seeking a motivated, detail-oriented entry-level Cyber Security Professional to support cloud security authorizations, compliance activities, and FedRAMP applications. Under regular supervision, the selected candidate will assist with the investigation, design, and development of software and/or hardware security technologies. This role includes supporting the NIST Core Cyber Framework (Identify, Detect, Respond, Recover), maintaining the integrity of computer workstations, servers, and networks, and ensuring data integrity and confidentiality through encryption and data retention technologies. The candidate will work closely with experienced cybersecurity staff and receive mentorship in DOE/NNSA and Environmental Management cybersecurity policies, standards, and governance processes. Safety is a primary responsibility in each job performed.Required Qualifications:Education: Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related discipline (e.g., Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering). Alternatively: non-related Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of related experience; Associate’s degree in IT-related field with 2 years of related experience; non-related Associate’s degree with 4 years of related experience; or high school diploma with at least 6 years of equivalent knowledge and experience.Required Skills & Knowledge: Strong written communication and composition skills. Familiarity with cloud security concepts or compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, RMF, or NIST SP 800-series. Knowledge of basic cybersecurity principles and frameworks (e.g., NIST). Demonstrated willingness to learn new technologies, frameworks, and regulatory environments. Ability to conduct thorough research and synthesize findings. Must be able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical personnel and conduct timely research.Work Requirements: On-site position with limited teleworking options. Standard 40-hour work week; overtime may be required. Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance (preferred).
