The person in this position will coordinate and supervise activities of field workers and construction needs for all phases of a project.Essential FunctionsPre-plan and schedule assigned work based on project schedule that has been set up by Project Superintendent or Project ManagerCoordinate and supervise activities of field workers and construction needs for all phasesOrganize and schedule necessary equipment through dispatchInitiate, maintain and complete timesheets and other related paperwork on a daily basis and in a legible mannerAssign workers to their respective duties and making sure that they have the appropriate training and tools to execute their jobs accuratelyMake sure that regulatory needs and safety measures are maintainedAssess the most efficient way to complete a project without sacrificing quality of the work being doneSpecific Job Knowledge, Skill And AbilityThe individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job.A thorough understanding of construction procedures, methods, practices, equipment, tools, materials, and utilitiesStrong background in all facets of AC paving, including the placement, rolling and compaction, and quality management of materials. Highly motivated to train and develop the crewExcellent time management, problem-solving, leadership and motivational skillsThe ability to pre-plan, schedule and organize work and the work of othersAn understanding of safety regulations and the ability to enforce those regulations to protect the employees and the companyAbility to manage multiple ongoing projects at different worksitesAbility to work in high pressure situations at a construction siteAble to effectively work with Agency and Owner representativesExcellent verbal and written communication is requiredWillingness to travel across San Diego County and surrounding areasMust have a valid driver’s license as driving on behalf of the company is requiredExperienceSeveral years of experience running heavy civil jobsPhysical DemandsFrequent driving – up to 5 hours per dayOccasional sitting for up to 3 hours at a timeContact walking, standing and bendingOccasional squatting and kneelingFrequent twisting at the neck and waistOccasional grasping with both handsOccasional pushing and pulling with both hands of object weighing up to 100 poundsOccasional lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 100 poundsConstantly working around heavy equipment and machineryConstantly walking on uneven groundConstant exposure to excessive noiseFrequent exposure to extremes in temperature, humidity and wetness (depending on time of year).
