Job SummaryManage drivers and traffic office to ensure service, availability and productivity in the most cost effective and safe manor to best serve our varied customer base.Physical RequirementsStand or Sit(Stationary position), Walk(Move, Traverse), Use hand/fingers to handle or feel (Operate, Activate, Use, Prepare, Inspect, Place, Detect, Position), Climb (stairs/ladders) or balance (Ascend/Descend, Work atop, Traverse), Stoop, kneel, crouch, or Crawl(Position self(to), Move), Talk/hear(Communicate, Detect, Converse with, Discern, Convey, Express oneself, Exchange information), See (Detect, Determine, Perceive, Identify, Recognize, Judge, Observe, Inspect, Estimate, Assess), Pushing or Pulling, Repetitive Motion, ReachingFunction in the JobMedium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Job FunctionOversee / Manage drivers and their functionsNegotiate favorable freight rates for branch locationCoordinate outbound material loadsOrganize work orders and transfer to warehouse for pickingTrack freight accruals and report to bookkeepingMaintain material receiving scheduleUnderstand and abide by all Federal Motor Carrier Safety RegulationsAudit daily driver logbooksMaintain records as required by D.O.T.Coordinate completed delivery tickets and forward to billing/invoicingSupply sales with freight information as requestedAssist in warehouse supervisor training re: proper paperwork proceduresComplete, coordinate and forward export order paperwork to customs as requiredCompletes annual employee performance reviews for department personnelPerforms appropriate coaching of department employees, including reprimands and/or disciplinary actions as required, in accordance with company policyFormulate and maintain/update procedural manuals for all major department functionsRegularly analyze department performance using specific management reportsImplement and enforce all company policies and proceduresAct as liaison for regular communication among departments and customersSpecial projects as assigned by managementRequired SkillsKnowledge of Department of Transportation requirements relating to ground transportationExcellent written and verbal communication skills as well as good negotiating skillsDemonstrated ability to work in a team environmentAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure
