Mid-level Associate Tax/Private Client/Trusts & Estates

A nationally recognized Am Law 100 firm is seeking a mid-level associate (JD year 2020–2022) to join its sophisticated Private Client & Family Office practice in New York and advise ultra-high-net-worth individuals, multigenerational families, family offices, and closely held businesses on complex domestic and international tax and estate planning matters. Estimated compensation range: $310K–$390K + bonus, commensurate with experience.Key Responsibilities:Draft and implement advanced trust structures such as GRATs, ILITs, CRTs, CLTs, and irrevocable grantor/non-grantor trusts. Advise clients on sophisticated wealth transfer and estate planning strategies designed to maximize tax efficiency, including multigenerational gifting, business succession planning, and family governance matters.Counsel individuals, trusts, and fiduciaries on complex income tax planning issues, with exposure to closely held entities, investment vehicles, and related structures.Partner regularly with family office personnel, trustees, accountants, and financial advisors to develop coordinated and comprehensive planning solutions.Act as a strategic advisor to family office clients by helping identify legal and operational needs, managing cross-functional matters, and coordinating with outside advisors across disciplines.Work collaboratively with attorneys in tax, corporate, real estate, litigation, and related practice groups to deliver integrated advice aligned with client goals and long-term planning objectives.Assist with trust and estate administration matters, including fiduciary guidance, tax compliance considerations, and related reporting obligations.Required Qualifications:Barred in New YorkMust have substantive experience in trusts & estates, private client, or tax law; and a strong interest in building a broad-based family office practice. Bachelor’s degree and JD from an accredited U.S. law school with strong academic credentialsPrior or current Am Law 100 experienceAll inquiries are handled confidentially.
