As an Electrical Project Engineer (PE), you will oversee the design, coordination, and execution of electrical systems across a diverse portfolio of commercial and industrial developments. From early planning through final construction documentation, you'll take ownership of project delivery while helping guide multidisciplinary coordination and technical quality. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment and enjoys balancing technical design with mentorship and client interaction. You'll work alongside experienced engineering teams across Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP), Fire Protection, and Structural disciplines while contributing to projects that range from retail and grocery developments to industrial and multifamily environments. Core ResponsibilitiesLead the design and coordination of electrical systems for commercial, industrial, retail, multifamily, and mixed-use developmentsPerform engineering calculations, power distribution design, lighting layouts, and system coordination in compliance with NEC, NFPA, IBC, and applicable standardsPrepare, review, and oversee construction documents, technical specifications, project schedules, and discipline budgetsIndependently manage assigned projects while maintaining accountability for quality, scope, and delivery timelinesCoordinate closely with Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP), Fire Protection, Structural, and architectural teams to ensure integrated project executionConduct final QA/QC reviews of engineering drawings and project deliverablesMentor designers and junior engineers by providing technical guidance, oversight, and professional development supportParticipate in client meetings, technical presentations, and project coordination discussionsEstimate discipline man-hours and assist with project planning and resource allocationSupport construction administration activities, including RFIs, submittals, and field coordination as needed Required QualificationsEducation: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)Licensure: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license requiredExperience: Minimum 8 years of electrical engineering and building systems design experienceSoftware: Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and electrical modeling softwareTechnical Expertise: Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IBC, electrical systems design, and multidisciplinary coordinationLeadership: Proven ability to mentor junior staff and lead project teams effectivelyCommunication: Strong client-facing communication and project coordination skills Preferred QualificationsExperience across grocery, retail, industrial, multifamily, senior living, restaurant, or mixed-use projectsStrong background in equipment selection, technical documentation, and report preparationAbility to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced consulting environmentExperience supporting construction administration and field coordination effortsStrong organizational, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution abilities Compensation & BenefitsAbove-market compensation with sign-on bonus potentialMedical, dental, vision, and pet insurance optionsGenerous 401(k) with company matchPTO, paid holidays, and tuition reimbursementProfessional license renewals, memberships, and continuing education coveredIndustry conferences, lunch-and-learns, and ongoing technical development opportunitiesRelocation assistance available for qualified candidatesCollaborative, casual culture with team-building events and employee perks About Cuhaci Peterson Cuhaci Peterson is a nationally recognized engineering consulting firm specializing in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and Structural engineering services.
