Mechanical Estimator

Position Summary The Mechanical Estimator is responsible for preparing cost estimates for commercial and industrial mechanical construction projects. This role analyzes drawings and specifications, performs quantity takeoffs, solicits vendor pricing, and develops competitive bid proposals while supporting preconstruction planning activities. Key Responsibilities Review project drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine project requirements. Perform accuratequantity takeoffsand input data into estimating systems. Develop cost estimates for mechanical construction labor, materials, and equipment. Evaluate project documents to identify inconsistencies, risks, or scope conflicts. Identifyvalue engineering opportunitiesand analyze job conditions impacting project cost. Request and evaluate vendor and supplier pricing for materials and equipment. Prepare complete bid proposals including scope clarifications and supporting documentation. Compare estimates and reconcile cost variances. Maintain organized project files including drawings, specifications, and estimate documentation. Assist with preconstruction planning and support project teams during bid preparation. Qualifications 3+ years of mechanical estimating experiencein commercial or industrial construction Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications Experience withcomputerized estimating systems Understanding of labor productivity factors and cost analysis Proficiency withMicrosoft Office Strong organizational and analytical skills Core Competencies Attention to Detail Analytical Thinking Communication Sales and Relationship Skills Multitasking and Time Management Trustworthiness and Accountability Physical Requirements Normal office working conditions with standard computer use.
