Job Description
InterLink Engineering, LLC supports a wide variety of industries with a primary focus on product development, reverse engineering, and design for manufacturing support. Our capabilities allow for us to support our customers by either performing engineering tasks at our facility or at our customer sites as required. We are looking for one or two SolidWorks Mechanical Design Engineers with experience in product development or manufacturing experience, especially involving sheet metal, as well as 3D modeling and 2D drawing using SolidWorks.We have a couple opportunities opening contractual positions at a nearby client's location, with the possibility of direct hire through the client or continued work through InterLink, allowing for a variety of different industry and project experiences. Essential Responsibilities: Design new products from scratch and make improvements to existing products using SolidWorks computer-aided design (CAD) under the guidance of Senior Engineers Quickly transform ideas and rough sketches of designs into 3D models, then into working engineering drawings in SolidWorksCreate detailed 2D drawings of parts and assembliesCollaborate with a small- to mid-sized team and keep project confidentialRapid prototype and adjust immediately to design changesAide in the procurement, construction, and testing of prototypes and new productsAnalyze data, review drawings for completeness, conduct design reviews with product management and suppliers to gain final approval.Supports Lean and Quality initiatives to reduce variability in designs. Proficient in MS Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OutlookSupport Product launch in Production environment - training and quality inspectionsPhysical Requirements:Able to sit for long periods of time (Frequently) Able to effectively operate CAD system (Constantly)Able to communicate effectively in all media (Constantly)Required Characteristics:Highly proficient in SolidWorks, with a solid understanding of project management and Bill of MaterialsKnowledgeable in common metal fabrication and machining processesAssociates' degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar, or equivalent experienceCapable of tolerance stacks and analysisStrong organizational and communication skills Ability to network with associates in other departments to find needed informationWillingness to consider change and to adaptMust be a local Greater Phoenix resident with reliable transportation for getting to and from workPreferred Characteristics:Knowledge of Lean practicesHands-on ability to take designs and create physical prototypes (mechanical aptitude)Certified SolidWorks ProfessionalGD&T training certificationExpert knowledge of ASME Y14.100 and ASME-Y14.5 drawing and tolerance standardsCFD Analysis experienceSurfacing or plastic design experienceTool and fixture design experienceAbility to multi-task and function in a production environmentMotivated, self-starter with the ability to learn quicklyExperience with DoD, vehicle, or aerospace product development
