Appian Developer
We're hiring Appian Developers to sustain and enhance a real-time correspondence tracking application supporting a federal agency's executive office. Built on the Appian Cloud Platform with a MySQL database, the system is used daily to route and track correspondence packages across the Department.This is a hands-on build-and-run role: you'll work an active Jira backlog, ship break-fix and minor enhancement releases on an incremental cadence, and keep a production system healthy, secure, and accessible.What you'll doDesign, configure, develop, and maintain Appian applications - interfaces, process models, records, expression rules, integrations, and data storesDevelop and tune MySQL queries, views, and schema changes supporting the Appian data layerWork the Jira backlog collaboratively with the customer using Agile best practices; deploy prioritized break-fix features and minor enhancements on an incremental release schedulePromote changes through Development → Test → Production under controlled, rollback-capable change management proceduresBuild and execute a testing program covering functional, integration, and regression testing; report results with quantifiable metrics (test cases pass/fail, requirements pass/fail, defect counts by severity)Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents, outages, and defects - meeting a 1-hour help desk response standard during 9:00 AM–5:30 PM ETRemediate security vulnerabilities through patching, code changes, and configuration hardening in coordination with the agency OCIOConfigure and maintain system permissions, roles, and application settingsSupport ATO sustainment activities, vulnerability scan response, and security documentationMaintain technical documentation and support knowledge transferRequired qualificationsActive Appian certification applicable to the role (Appian Certified Associate Developer, Senior Developer, or Lead Developer)Minimum 3 years developing or supporting U.S. Federal Government information systems of comparable size, scope, complexity, and technical environmentMinimum 3 years of experience with Agile product development and implementationHands-on Appian development: process models, SAIL interfaces, expression rules, record types, integrations/web APIs, and data store configurationSolid SQL / MySQL skills - query development, performance tuning, and schema managementExperience with defect tracking, release management, and multi-environment deploymentMust be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Public Trust / agency suitability determination.Preferred qualificationsExperience with Appian Cloud administration, upgrades, and health monitoringPrior support to a federal civilian agencyFamiliarity with NIST SP 800-53, FISMA, and vulnerability remediation workflowsWorking knowledge of Section 508 / WCAG 2.x Level AA accessibility requirementsExperience with automated regression testing and CI/CD for low-code platformsU.S. Citizens/Green Card ONLY due to legal or government contract requirement
