Mobile Engineering Manager – React Native
Overview
In this role, you lead the Mobile Engineering team building large-scale React Native apps for a 3M+ user base, shaping a modular, Superapp-style architecture. You own the technical direction, oversee architecture decisions, and work closely with Product, Design, and Platform leadership to translate priorities into a cohesive mobile platform. You act as a hands-on leader, driving performance, reliability, and maintainability while enabling rapid delivery and quality releases.
ResponsibilitiesDefine and own the React Native app architecture across iOS and AndroidDesign modular, reusable mobile platform components and servicesDrive adoption of modern React Native and Expo tooling, including New Architecture considerationsOversee over-the-air update strategy (Expo Updates / EAS) and release governanceLead mobile build and release engineering, CI/CD, and environment managementProvide hands-on technical leadership through design sessions, PR reviews, and debuggingImprove performance, observability, and quality across the mobile stackEstablish architectural guardrails for navigation, state, data access, offline behavior, and testingCollaborate with backend/platform teams and Product/Design to deliver cohesive multi-product experiencesCoach and develop engineers, improving execution and developer experience
Key requirements8+ years of software engineering experience with production mobile apps2+ years leading or managing software development teams while remaining technically hands-onDeep experience with React Native, React, and TypeScript/JavaScriptExperience architecting large/mobile apps using modular or Superapp-style patternsStrong Expo experience (Expo SDK, EAS Build/Submit/Update)Understanding of React Native New Architecture concepts (Fabric, TurboModules, JSI/Codegen)Experience with mobile release strategies across App Store/Google Play and over-the-air updatesStrong mobile CI/CD, automated testing, code signing, and production supportExperience with mobile observability and performance toolingStrong client/server API knowledge (REST/GraphQL) and networking considerationsClear communication for architecture decisions to engineers and stakeholdersstrong communicationleadership and mentorshipcross-functional collaborationReact NativeReactTypeScript/JavaScript
