The incumbent serves as a Device Clinic technician in the Orlando VA Healthcare System. The person in this role will be part of the Orlando VA Healthcare System Cardiology Device Clinic team, a cross-functional team managing implanted cardiac devices.Basic RequirementsMedical Instrument Technician - Electrocardiograph Technician (EKG)Must be a citizen of the United StatesEnglish Language ProficiencyMedical Instrument Technicians must be proficient in spoken and written English as per VA Handbook 5005 - chapter 2 - section D - paragraph 5aNo specific educational requirements; in-clinic re-programming of implanted devices under EP guidance and ordersRegular telephone contact with Device Clinic patients for remote care monitoring and device managementProvide device follow-up to patients; troubleshoot and adjust device programming as neededRepresent physicians, hospital and clinic staff regarding implanted devicesStay current on each manufacturer's devicesProvide remote follow-up enrollment, education and training to patients and staff to promote transmission and clinic efficiencyTroubleshoot transmission failures or missed transmissions; conduct lookup and document patient remote transmissions in the recordUpdate physicians, mid-level providers, and nursing staff on problems requiring immediate attention and follow-up; offer potential solutions to device programmingComplete necessary documentation and phone calls;
