Job DescriptionCompany DescriptionJob DescriptionProduce highly engineered, specialized, and innovative maintenance-of-way equipment for rail-related markets, by using mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic assembly techniques as well as welding, electrical wiring and hitching on overhead cranes and jibs.ResponsibilitiesAssembly Principal Duties\nRead and follow standard work, BOM's, blueprints, routings, specifications and other diagrams/instructions in order to build and assemble parts and equipment in an accurate and timely fashion\nObtain necessary tools and equipment\nHandle material, tools and equipment manually or with jib crane, performing own hitching as required\nFollows piping diagrams or other instructions to connect hydraulic/pneumatic hosing or piping accurately and timely\nMaintain high quality standards\nConsistently maintains level of productivitiy as determined by management\nSpray paint parts as required\nLayout, cut and fit parts as required to weld in place\nPrepare machinery for shipping\n\nRebuild machinery and clean, repair, disassemble, reassemble, and adjust machine as necessary\nWiring Principal Duties\nFollow wiring diagrams/schematics to connect electrical cabling accurately and timely\nPerform wiring sequence for point to point direct or harness wiring\nWire mounting panels and junction boxes per documentation/instructions\nCreate or re-wire harnesses and cables per documentation\n\nWelding Principal Duties\nDetermine from drawings, information or standard practice, the welding sequence, type and size of electrode, machine settings and tools required\nPerform fit up and related layout, and welding\nMake allowance for distortion during fit up and weld\nChange gas cylinders, wire reels, cables, gas lines, wire holder and wire\n\nGeneral Duties\nFollow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.\nAbility to fabricate small components\nComplete production and quality assurance forms\nParticipate actively in team meetings and group discussions.\nInterface with engineering to accurately communicate information\nActively participate in continuous improvement activities or events as required\nAdhere to Quality Management System Requirements\n5S activities\nAbility to read and comprehend procedures written in English\nFamiliarity with personal computers\n\nKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesEducationH.S. Diploma or equivalent\nExperience\nPrevious experience with similar responsibilities\nTrade school classes may be substituted for experience.\n\nTechnical Skills\nAbility to operate computer to check schedules, get prints, update manufacturing status of jobs and update employee information, obtain check stubs, etc.\nAbility to read and understand blueprints, diagrams and other manuracturing instructions\nProficient in using hand tools properly and safely\nAbility to use electric or pneumatic and cordless tools safely\nSafely drive forklift using proper guidelines\nAbility to operate a jib crane safely\nAbility to layout, drill and tap holes\nPrevious experience wiring electrical boxes and panels and circuit breaker boards\nKnowledge of voltage systems\nExperience with different welding techniques\n\nBehavioral Attributes\nKeep tools, equipment and work area clean and orderly. Work in a safe manner.\nAbility to work independently and as a team player with internal and external staff members\nFollows instructions as directed\nBe self-motivated and possess time management skills to meet production deadlines\n\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to regularly lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds\nRequires full range of body motion, using all extremities, ability to walk unassisted, normal fine motor dexterity and normal strength\nNormal, correctable vision ability is required\nRequires the ability to frequently climb, stoop and bend.\nSpecific vision requirements include; close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus\n\nRequired Safety Equipment (Provided by company)\nSafety glasses with side shields\nSteel toe safety shoes with non-skid soles ($ reimbursement from company)\nHearing protection as required\nWelding helmet/jacket/gloves as required\nSpecialty tooling as required\n\nRequired Equipment (not provided by company)Rolling tool box, with basic hand and power tools\nWorking ConditionsManufacturing shop environment subject to moderate noise, oil, grease and dirt.
