Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced L3 DB2 DBA with strong expertise in DB2 for z/OS environments to support enterprise-scale production systems. The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on experience in database administration, performance tuning, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance within highly available mainframe environments.This role requires close collaboration with application teams, infrastructure teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure database performance, scalability, reliability, and security.Key ResponsibilitiesServe as the primary DBA point of contact for application onboarding, upgrades, and major enhancementsCollaborate with application teams to understand business and technical requirements and recommend database solutions and best practicesMonitor and optimize DB2 subsystem performance including CPU, I/O, locking, buffer pools, and query executionPerform SQL performance tuning, execution plan analysis, and index optimizationAnalyze and resolve database performance bottlenecks using monitoring and diagnostic toolsUtilize tools such as Omegamon, EXPLAIN, RMF, SMF, and native DB2 utilities for performance analysis and troubleshootingPlan and execute DB2 maintenance activities, including PTFs, service packs, patches, and version upgradesEnsure high availability, reliability, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery readiness of database systemsConfigure and maintain database monitoring and alerting mechanismsSupport production environments with 24x7 availability requirementsImplement and maintain database security standards and compliance requirementsIdentify risks proactively and recommend performance and operational improvementsCoordinate with infrastructure, application development, and operations teams during deployments and critical incidentsRequired Skills & Qualifications5–10 years of hands-on experience as a DB2 DBA in enterprise mainframe environmentsStrong expertise in DB2 for z/OSExperience supporting mission-critical production systems with high availability requirementsStrong knowledge of DB2 architecture, subsystems, utilities, logging, and recovery processesExtensive experience with SQL tuning and execution plan analysisHands-on experience with performance monitoring and tuning tools such as OmegamonStrong understanding of z/OS concepts, including:JCLDatasetsBatch processingJob schedulingExperience with database maintenance, upgrades, patching, and recovery strategiesKnowledge of SOX compliance, audit processes, and database security best practicesAbility to work effectively with cross-functional teams in large-scale enterprise projectsStrong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience in manufacturing or large enterprise environmentsExposure to automation and scripting for DBA operationsFamiliarity with enterprise monitoring and incident management processes
