Located in Washington Navy Yard, DC, this Special Education Teacher role supports an early childhood Bridge 2 classroom serving K-2 students in a non-categorical setting. This contract position spans the current school year and offers a structured, collaborative environment designed to address diverse learner needs within an inclusive educational framework.Responsibilities:Deliver tailored instruction aligned with the common core curriculum, modifying content and pace to support student understanding and mastery.Implement social skills development and independence strategies through explicit daily instruction.Utilize Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques to enhance student motivation and reduce interfering behaviors.Facilitate meaningful inclusion opportunities by coordinating student participation in general education classrooms as determined by Individualized Education Program (IEP) teams.Employ assistive technology and communication methods to support students' language use for requests, comments, and questions.Maintain a classroom environment reflecting a typical general education setting while providing additional supports for specialized learning needs.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to monitor progress and adjust instructional approaches.Qualifications:Valid special education teaching certification.Experience working with early childhood students (K-2), preferably in a non-categorical or Bridge 2 classroom model.Strong knowledge of differentiated instruction strategies and social skills development.Familiarity with ABA supports and assistive technology in educational settings.Ability to create inclusive learning experiences and collaborate effectively with educators and support staff.This full-time role requires a 40-hour workweek, Monday through Friday, during the school year.
